I am a returning player from MoP. I used to play only pvp, because i really dont like DGs and RAIDS once they are boring. Will I be able to get good gear to do competive arenas only doing PVP (bg & arenas), like it was in CATA and MOP? Thankss

Yes, Blizzard has listened to the community’s pleas for a PVP vendor and they delievered – we’re not only getting a PVP vendor, but a powerful set bonus for PVP trinkets, to ensure that they are powerful options. They’ve taken astute care to make sure that Shadowlands PVP will be a great experience for the PVPers. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Can you explain more about the PVP gear/system? Do you know if the PVP itens will have a stats like the old “Resilience” and “PVP power”? This would be perfect for everyone, no progression in PVE through PVP and no progression in PVP through PVE; as a pvp player from the old days, this is the system that I would chose. I only ask here because there is alot of information about this topic from 1 year to 1 month ago, and I think things have changed in this period. Thanks again!

I’m confident they will nerf pve trinkets if that happens we’re looking at a great first season.

He’s correct in that you can gear through pvp. However i’d be better to compare it to wotlk, in that your arena set will be gated behind rating walls. (Think shoulders for being 2k.)
It’s up for debate in the community if PvE or PvP gear will be BiS for PvP gameplay. Currently on beta PvE gear can reach a higher item level than PvP gear. And the meta is ruled by PvE Trinkets, and weird “Borrowed Power” systems that augment our classes from their base state.
Despite constant requests from the community there has been little to indicate their return.

I think it is up to blizzard now, good thing i’ve waited until now to buy SL. If the best way to PVP is doing PVE and if the meta includes PVE trinkets, there is a poor PVP system ( or not a pvp system at all), think i’ve seen silly mobile games with better PVP system . Blizz will not have my money if this is it.
Happy because i know the situation and disapointed because of it.

PVE looks to be faster and stronger than PVP for gear. Anything that you experienced from TBC to WoD was far better because of the PVP stats on PVP gear alongside the rate at which you geared up in BGs for honor and rated for conquest.
So far, it looks to be slightly better than the worst PVP gearing expansion in history: BfA.
Let’s hope that they are gearing the massive outcry about this and will be improving it before launch. Trying for second worst PVP gearing system in history of the World (of Warcraft) is not aiming high enough.

That is sad.
The game forces you do something you would not chose to do or worst, something you even does not enjoy. And not once, but every day, every week for hours. Obviously this person, who has been forced to PVE, would stop playing the game; the fun is gone.
That person is me some years ago. Hope that stays in the past because I was so excited about coming back to bgs, rbgs and arenas again.

I will say this though, it is shaping up to be a far cry from how fast it was in WoD or earlier. And as long as “gear is gear”, PVP will never be as fast or faster than PVE for gear.
The beta doesn’t have it in yet. We only know how base conquest gear will be and honor gear. There’s a lot we don’t know yet.

And from what I have seen, those are missing the mark for any substantial improvements. So, what we do know, looks bad, especially honor gear.

Honor gear is kinda irrelevant in today’s game. Conquest gear has potential. Bypassing rng and upgrading a set of gear over a few weeks sounds pretty good. It’s far from doa and already better than bfa.
Agreed, but that is not good. But the game way way more fun when it wasn’t.
Trying to be better than the worst expansion for PVP gear is not enough. They should try to make it better than the best expansion for PVP gearing.

Hes lying btw there are pvp vendors now but you will still have to pve for full bis and pve trinkets as they are now are far ahead of pvp ones lol. The dude posting is a brain dead troll i wouldnt listen to a word he says. You wont have to pve near as much for gear id say but you still will have to do some pve. I’ve heard a good part of the pvp gear has haste versa on it so that’s good if true but not all pieces do.

Where do we shout to blizz about this ?
I remember back in 2013/14, the existence of guilds for pvp only, one of the best names i’ve ever seen was “Shut up pve guy” hahaha. I used to play in “Vicious PVP”. Saddly, logged in my server searching for a pvp guild and, obviously, could not find one… did not know why until this topic.
I think the developers work hard in dungeons and raids, so they assume that everybody wants and likes doing that PVE mechanics. Also, they probably play the pve content and, after inevitable boredom, they wanna crush PPL with their heroic pve itens in arenas and bg.
They miss that fact that a part of the players enjoy more or even only PVP and, some of this people, dont have time or/and patience to do PVE content before PVP. The scenario of pve requirement for good pvp, besides being an awful system for, will make people quit the game.

the real answer is, not really… if you created a character and ONLY pvp’d, youll have a very hard time getting to the first 1400 rating cap without being carried. most of the people you’ll be playing against will have a very high ilvl from mythics and raiding making your 197 capped pvp gear pretty useless.
if you already wasted your money, i’d say youre better off getting someone to carry you or just force yourself to PVE…
i decided not to play anymore, i hate PVE and blizzard (although claiming differently) forces you to play the campaign and forces you to pve.
No, you need to do Thorgast to get your legendary. It is rather needed for PVP, since the abilities you get are rather strong.
You also need to do PVE grinds through quests to get renown, so you can unlock conduits and stam buff, total of a 6% buff at renown 35.
