Can I make Chains of Devastation work for Raid/M+? PVE gods help!

Hey all, please help! I am in love with the idea leggo and feel it might just be a sleeper. I know that for Raiding and M+ the recommended Leggo is Primal Tide Core and I do understand it is a boost to throughput and HPS. Here are my qualms with it:

  1. Not intelligent healing. AT ALL.
-Won’t proc on targets with Riptide already on them.
-Will heal a target from 1% to 99% (the latter being quite useless)
-Won’t Proc at all if conditions 1 and 2 aren’t met

I also dislike Spiritwalker’s Tidal Totem. The idea of a 3 minute CD to get off a few less expensive, fast cast heals leaves a lot to be desired by me (boring and bland).

MY QUESTIONS ARE:

  1. If I go Chains of Devastation, will the throughput loss be detrimental? Will I be competitive or will I be robbing myself of needed HPS?

  2. Will I need to take different talents and conduits (High Tide, Deluge/ Nature’s Reach) in order to maximize this leggo?

  3. Should I forget all about this and just play the “meta” recommended leggo(s)?

Thank you in advance for your help!

The thing with the chains lego is: to make it useful you are gonna run your self oom over spending on chain heal for the sake of using the lego

My idea was continue a normal rotation and use the instant Chain Heals on High Tide only, certainly that would still work?

You can play it for sure, it’s just going to be significantly worse than any of the other ones. You can play it with high tide, but losing ascendance is honestly not even close to worth it.

As long as you’re not doing high keys you could play a full mastery build with chains and be totally fine cause content isn’t that hard until higher keys, but in the long run you will mostly just be hurting yourself and building bad habits

Well dang, I was hoping so hard for this but I suppose it is simply not meant to be. To Primal Tidal Core I go. TY for the help and replies

It depends on what you want to do, the extra cooldown from Tidal Totem is unrivaled for mythic plus, it is hands down the best cooldown of all healers for prideful affix.

Shamans already have a ton of cooldown, now add one more and you should be able to use one every pull and that’s why they are so strong right now.

Chains of Devastation is a ton of fun tho, for now you can play with it in torghast as it’s a common power but I wouldn’t recommend building it yet. I have a suspicion in 9.1, 9.2, and beyond they are going to increase the number of legendaries and it will be really good as a second or third choice but you’ll probably regret it as a first.
