Can I main Augmentation for solo play?

I HATE how it is designed to be “support dps” because I like black and bronze dragonflights but with the recent changes (buffs to personal dps) and the chronowarden tree there is more chances that you could like main it? instead of using the spec ONLY (or mostly) in raids or dungeons

You certainly can, but it will be slower than even playing pres for solo content.

That said, once hero talents are in the mix Scalecommander will make Aug a decent amount less painful for solo content (Chrono will be better than Aug now but I’m unsure if it’ll be better than SC), but it still won’t come close to dev.

I use it in solo content, it is not too bad. Not as fast as Dev to be sure, but I can still manage to kill things in short enough order.

Play to your strengths when you solo as Aug and pull groups rather than 1/2 mobs we have strong AOE comparatively to single target, snares and slows help to keep your distance and keep your buffs up on yourself and should be fine.

Also make sure to spec into things like echoing strike/protracted talons for more EB and slow in aoe as well as personal damage stuff like overlord so you can just kite turbo packs and aoe them down.

Geomancy and seismic slam can also really help with cc for soloing but I believe geomancy goes away with prepatch.

Aug on the beta is pumping, soloing in TWW will be much easier than it is now unless blizz nerfs it into the ground.

Pumping is a bit hyperbolic, but compared to the live version I guess almost anything could be considered pumping, lmao.

If I want more personal dps which one is better Chronoward or SC?

It’s going to come down to tuning. SC has some nice personal DPS stuff but the big thing it does is encourage more frequent breaths, which probably doesn’t benefit solo play much.

I’d guess overall they’re probably not incredibly different, but it’ll come down to final tuning I’m sure.

I think chronowarden would lend itself better to solo content. It’s just more damage upfront, while scalecommander gets more of its damage from doing breath of eons more often.

I enjoy chronowarden more, personally. It’s just everything you do now, but better. And it’s got good visual pop thanks to Chrono Flames.

Eh, I’m sure both will be fine but you can tailor SC to do some pretty nuts aoe pulls because of the boost to volcanic damage with talents like overlord for BIIIG breath damage.

Outside of those breaths, obviously, you won’t be doing as much as CW, so you definitely have to milk the cooldown window.

Either choice will likely be fine, will just come down to preference.

I feel like as far as solo goes both CW and SC are going to be fine choices. My main bet with them is SC will be a better M+ and CW will be a better raid spec.

CW is pretty much universally better.

The only thing that would really make SC come out ahead for anyone (barring being overtuned) would be if you play with a lot of 90sec specs that can take advantage of more frequent breaths.

Even then, it needs to be played pretty damn well to potentially come out ahead as it currently stands.
