Can i level to 120 without bfa?

So im kindda new and dont own BFA, but also wasnt planning on buying it. I was thinking on leveling to cap and then buying shadowlands when that one comes out. However now i stopped to think about this and i think it does makes sense that i would need own BFA to level to 120.

Old expansions tend to get rolled into the base wow experience, they really only make money on current expansion packs.

You should be fine, if you purchase shadowlands collector’s edition when it gets released, I think. There might be a delay, but I think Blizzard doesn’t like the idea of someone purchasing the expansion and not being able to use it.

No

Oh. You mean once next expansion comes out.

Yes.

no i meant right now, but if i pre-ordered shadowlands right now, would i instantlly unlock BFA too?

Probably not

Best place to ask is the customer support forum

aight, thanks.

Do they even allow you to preorder shadowlands if you don’t have BFA?

i dont know :upside_down_face:

I believe so, but you would still have to play BfA to get to 120… I don’t think the xp from legion would carry you thru 120.

You could use the anniversary pvp event, and timewalking, though and never have to do actual BfA contnet

I do not see any of shadowlands preorders including bfa. So i think you will have to buy bfa seperatly to level to 120 unless something has changed.

Asking blizzard customer service or the customer support forums mite be the best way to find out.

I do recall people saying that if you reach 60 in classic you get bfa free for your retail account. But i have no 100% garuntee.

You need to have BFA on your account before you can upgrade to Shadowlands.

WoW Brazil Facebook put it up, but recalled it. So I think they made a mistake.

was proven false.

But if the poster waits for bfa to end and shadowlands to launch with the level squish. Will him buying shadowlanda then invlude bfa? Thats the real question.

He asked if he can level to cap without BfA to which the answer is no.

Won’t allow him to order Shadowlands without it anyway. He could check it on the order page.

OP: Still going to be a while until it comes out. Unless you’ve got goals pre-BfA that you want to work towards until then you’re better off buying it. No loss if you don’t though, given BfA will be a separate levelling just like the other expacs.

That has not been revealed yet. It could be possible that Battle for Azeroth would be rolled into the base game, much like all the other expansions before it, in which case it would not really depend on if op purchased Shadowlands.

Or, it could remain a 3 different levels of purchase, where you get Legion for free, with a subscription, then have to 2 step upgrade from Legion to BFA, then again to Shadowlands.

None of this has been revealed yet.

OP did indeed answer that question.

Without bfa he can’t presently level to 120. Yes.

But we already know when shadowlands launches and bfa is all done 120s will be squished to level 50. And the new cap will be 60.

In the past when first getting into the game. If you started playing during legion you bought the chest package which gave you legion and everything before it.

You didn’t have to buy all the expacs seperately. Shadowlands may do the same once bfa is completely done. He should ask a gm or customer support person.

Most likely but might be too early for even customer support to answer that. They’d just echo what’s on the sales page. Worth a shot.

I joined a few months back, only paying for BfA.

Will that happen at the release of BFA. Maybe, maybe not. That has not always been the case, Warlords and Legion were the first two, BFA could be added to the base game, in which case it doesn’t matter if OP buys Shadowlands.

There was a time, when you did.

That already has been answered there, they don’t know yet either.

If i was the poster. Considering how blizzard has worked past expacs into deals and bundles.

The most logical and fiscally effective action. Is probably to hold off on buying shadowlands till it actually launches as it may at that time include bfa.

This means though that presently you will be stuck at level 110.

And that when the level squish occurs you will probably be put at level 40 instead of 50.
