Can I just pay $15 a month for tourny server?

Do you think this could have been solved by making the aspirant gear upgradable to 197 sooner than it was?

Could been like 2 weeks sooner i think. Big problem is people thinking they are better then they are. I see a lot of i was 2100 s4 bfa and now I’m hardstuck 1550. Fast meta no scaling and more players = harder for people to get rating

You’re right… it doesn’t feel like the forums does it.

Get out of here you filthy elitist.

Perhaps, but yet again we’d face the same issue (just reversed) where PvE players would be upset about PvP gear being a higher ilvl than the drops they are getting, and start feeling like they’d need to PvP to be competitive.

Blizzard refusing to separate the gear (for both competitive and casual play) is the root of the issues we’re seeing. Their flawed logic is that this is a single game with smaller, overlapping ecosystems existing within, but the reality is that wow is a series of different games under the same title. Every facet of the game, including gear & abilities, needs to be distinctly balanced for each of these ‘games’.

It is a downright foolish decision to have a soft requirement for players interested in X to participate in Y. The customer is always right in matters of taste. Players are very vocal, and will tell Blizzard exactly what they want, and don’t want, to do.

Imagine paying to join a football league, but you aren’t allowed to use cleats unless you also sign up and play in the same org’s softball league. Are the cleats useful in both sports? Absolutely. Should there be a requirement to play a sport you may not enjoy simply to be competitive in the sport you enjoy? Absolutely not. That org would probably not exist for long.

The excuse of “this is an mmorpg” is nonsense, since Blizzard is in complete control over the systems that prop up that soft requirement. Think of it this way: It would be completely possible for Blizzard to require pet battles in order to qualify for renown upgrades. Would the “its an MMO!” crowd defend that? What if BIS ilvl gear was only obtained through mission tables?

This idea is the only way to save competitive PVP in this game (and is an idea I’ve been pushing for 3+ years now).

A vast majority of competitive players do not care about the game outside of competitive arena. They just don’t… we don’t care that this is an MMO and that gear difference is a core concept of MMOs. It just does not matter to those of us who simply want that competitive gameplay. We log in and do the boring content such as Torghast, M+, raids because we are forced to in order to compete in the one aspect of the game that has nothing to do with those things and ultimately act as a deterrent to even play.

If you care at all about a healthy competitive PVP scene, then having a tourney realm is the only option. Gear could be balanced solely around PVP and everybody can min/max based on their playstyle. Participation would skyrocket, that I can guarantee, as new players would be injected into the scene as the barrier of entry would be removed. Don’t you ever wonder why you see the same names on the ladder season after season? Does that not signal there’s something terribly wrong with the current system?

Of course, bad players will oppose this idea with excuses of “fragmenting the playerbase” because they require the gear disparity in order to feel good about themselves. And you know what? Nobody is saying to take arena or battlegrounds out of the main game… all of you gear chasers can play vs other gear chasers and feel superior for those 3 minutes. You can obtain your superficial Gladiator titles and you can slay your way to your desired ratings, nobody is trying to take that away from you.

If any of you actually ventured out and played real competitive games, you’d understand very quickly how bad the current PVP system is in this game. Hell, new players watching the AWC aren’t even seeing the true game being represented (this is actually insanity).

this is why the community weren’t doing justice to Ghostcrawler
He separated them out, like completely.
And obviously 6.0 PVP

PVP is sh!te ever since legion when they forced you to do their cleverly designed daily in the world, and give you that nonsense instanced PVP value

I think people unsubbing probably hurts that too.

Exactly. That is the issue. Two of my friends have quit playing because to be relevant and able to push in PvP you are forced to PvE and do Torghast.

Sure we are, you think OP wants to exclusively play on a tournament realm because they love those systems?

Blizz roughly proposed something like this with “call of the gladiator” or whatever it was called back in WoD beta. Everyone had a melt down so it was canned.
