Add a queue, access to all gear, and a lobby.
The thought of a arcade fighter style game type would be interesting.
They used to have a paid tourney server back in BC. It was a good time.
That is a really good idea, but will never happen.
Blizz is all about their metrics now. Having PvPers on their own realms, and not having to log in to do daily quests, torghast, covenant stuff, etc… would hurt their engagement numbers.
I would pay even $20 for that.
I don’t give a s**t to all the pve/questchains/covenants-conduits farm, and I’m about to unsub because most of my playtime is to do things I don’t like.
I’m not a fan of the idea. Although it would make PvP more competitive, it would hurt PvP on live realms. I also believe that gear disparities and the gearing process is an important aspect of WoW PvP but that’s another discussion
Eh not too much. It would hurt raiders who dabble in PvP, that’s about it. Dedicated PvPers would all be on the realm where they don’t have to grind PvE stuff.
Yeah, gear disparity very important in rating based matchmaking. Fairness is irrelevant because it’s a MMO.
I would pay an additional $15 a month for a TR server experience.
Dedicated PvPers are important to the current system though. I’m worried the PvP on live realms will become dominated by those raiders who dabble rather than those who can demonstrate how player skill can overcome gear
Oh for sure it most definitely would be.
But who cares? If the dedicated PvPers are all on their own PvP realms who gives a crap who is winning pvp on the raiding realms? It’d just be a side thing they’d do for fun. Which would be fine IMO.
That’s just the nature of this game. I, and many others, enjoy being able to wreck someone substantially undergeared. Getting obliterated by a higher geared or higher ranked player acts as a carrot on a stick for me - I want to do what they just did, giving me a goal that keeps me playing
They should run the numbers on how many laps PvPers complete around Oribos on a daily basis compared to all of the PvE content combined.
A tourney realm would actually increase the number of classes & specs a lot of people play, and probably would increase the amount of players pvping over a season.
LMAO
I’d be super curious about that number, it’d be so high.
I definitely see the appeal but I have doubts about the longevity of these realms. Cliques will inevitably form among the limited group of players who will actually pay to play on these realms. I just think improving balance more frequently on live servers is the solution most healthy for the overall game
I just downloaded an addon that does that lmao
Oh 1000%. For sure.
But it’s pretty clear from looking at the past that frequent PvP balancing is a pipe dream. Blizz just doesn’t care.
A tourney realm is the next best thing.
PvP is unfortunately blizzards runt. They dont care about developing it, and dont care about balancing it. They make balance decisions based on the idea that “counter comps” have a legitimate function in retail PvP.
It’s a slippery slope once you start fragmenting the player base. Obviously it would be fun but i don’t think it’s good for the overall health of the game. How many of us truly only arena? No bgs no m+ no rbgs strictly arena? Pretty small i think. You’d end up fighting the same 100 players which doesn’t happen on live unless you are 3k+
At the end of the day this is an MMO it’s not perfect and blizzard doesn’t want it to be. There’s no other PvP like wow 3s in all of gaming and we’re stuck with doing 5-6 hrs a week of chores. Small price to pay if you ask me.
I just know from my and a few of my close pvp friends situations, where doing the absolute bare minimum pve garbage to be semi-competitive in PvP is all we do.
A few friends only have the 190 legendaries because Torghast is awful to grind, I just recently finished the campaign because Bron is great (but that was with the game muted and listening to podcasts while completely ignoring the story), and the last time I did M+ was when people were getting 226 weapons on first week of Vault, but Santa wasn’t as nice to me, so I went and got a weapon.
I despise the fact that the game requires you to pve in order to compete in pvp, and before any milk drinkers reply with “tHeN gO pLaY lEaGuE”, WoW’s pvp is much more fun to me than mobas. Emphasis on the pvp.
