Can I get transmogs on a different class than I want for the armor on on a different class? For old raids

I want the death knight transmog from hellfire citadel. Do I need to be a death knight to farm that mog or can I do it on a different class I have, let’s say a mage that is far more geared or do I need to be a death knight to get the DK transmog or can I still get the pieces on a different class?

If it is class-specific, it has to be on the class. A warrior would not be able to unlock DK-specific transmog.

But, if there is no class restriction, one plate-wearer can unlock any plate armor for other plate-wearers.
