I’m not sure what my issue is, but I’m seriously failing at understanding and learning Frost DK. I’ve read some guides and yet still I can’t seem to wrap my head around this.

I went Deathbringer with Soul Reaper, Obliteration and Long Winter. No Chill Streak, no Horn of Winter.

I’m just a world content player, so I’m not trying to min/max here… I just want to learn this spec and have some fun with it.

Any and all advice, rotations, explanations that are like explaining things to a two year old are super appreciated! :dracthyr_heart:

Deathbringer is kind of underwhelming hero spec in my perspective. I personally run for my Fdk as Rider hero spec with shattering blade spec for delve/M+. And I mostly get rotation/stat wise guides from icy vein

A few things off the top of my head

  1. Spend your runic power abilities when you have enough to use it. Dk is more resource management then it is build/spend, and is made to use runic power asap.
  2. Basic Obliterate does hardly any damage without killing machine. Same with howling blast/rime. So dont feel pressured into wasting runes on them without their proc’s. Frost is about reacting to those proc’s.
  3. Spend rime procs asap. Not only do they put up your disease, but they help delay your rotation. Giving your auto attacks more time to get a killing machine.
  4. Spec feels better dual wielding then using a 2h, as dual wield gives more killing machine procs.

Put as many points into Crit as possible, the rest can go to Mastery. If you want to have reliably procs of Killing machine, dual-wielding is the best.
You’ll want rune of razorice on your main weapon and Rune of the Fallen Crusader on your offhand.

-You’ll want to prioritize Frost Strike every time you get 5 stacks of Razorice on your main target because Shattering Blade is a must along with Shattered Frost.
It should take 2 or 3 global cooldowns for that to happen.

-Other than that it’s all about getting KM procs for Obliterate. At the moment Howling Blast doesn’t do enough damage, even with Rime, to be worth using in most cases except when you are trying to save on runes.

Frost is fine for open world content but seriously requires a modern rework.
