Can i disable the 'potentially offensive message' nonsense?

You are welcome to provide those articles or an example of me being pedantic in regards to “protect classes” and not typing out “religion, race, or orientation” and ignoring the actual point being made as well.

I mean… it is old school game media im not gonna take a suckers bet.

i think she was saying it was a lot more fun, like most things were, before you had to go around on eggshells 24/7 for fear you would, gasp!, offend someone.

all you lot looking for reasons to take offense, surprisingly, always find something to be offended about. and frankly, i feel nothing but pity for you. because that must be miserable as hell,

why would we want to? why would that be fun?

i was there in those days too. it wasn’t cool and fun then, and that behavior hasn’t gotten better with age.

And what topics from the 90s were acceptable then that gamer culture at large no longer allow?

The person you agreed with explicitly replied to slurs. Which ones would you like to be able to use still?

Decent people don’t have to go around on eggshells.

If you’re not a decent person I don’t really want to play video games with you anyways, so good riddance.

Yeah, all these people acting like we aren’t all old enough to remember that.

We just disagree that rampant toxicity was a good and fun thing.

Comes down to different people wanting different things. Some people where happy with those old ways.

Can you not sympathize now that the roles are reversed?

heard it here first folks. if you use colorful language you are not a good person.

get bent.

Which again, is beyond ironic coming from the generation that couldn’t stop talking about Disney’s live action remake of the little mermaid for two months.

Do newer generations get too easily offended? Sure. But let’s not pretend the older generation doesn’t either lol.

Nope. There are outraged articles throwing out accusations that they were sanctioned because of how they were advertising their guilds. They claim it’s because they’re LGBTQ+. In reality, it’s because Blizzard is very specific about what wording can be used when advertising any type of guild.

You cannot discriminate in advertisements.

You remember that there wasn’t marriage beyond a man and a woman back then right?

What an absurd question to ask aloud.

Big difference between profanity and bigotry.

I said earlier that I cuss all the time when I’m around people I know don’t care, and don’t when I’m in public or around people who it might bother.

Being an adult is knowing the difference. You seem to be struggling with that.

that movie was objectively trash. the original was great. how is this an argument?

you know perfectly well we’re not talking about dropping a casual swear word. being honest would help.

Well yeah, the things we said in Quake and Counter Strike were awful but part of growing up and being mature is realizing how wrong and stupid those we said were. Heck, some of the things we said in Ventrillo or Mumble or Teamspeak were absolutely foul and degenerate during the infancy of WoW and if I got banned I wouldn’t have been surprised.

It’s been almost 20 years and I’m still embarrassed.

It wasnt legal then. The people have existed since recorded history.

Are you saying it is a problem people cant be homophobic in most public spaces with consequence?

The quality of the movie wasn’t the point, the criticism started the second the first trailer dropped, and you know what it was about.

Aka, offended by something….wait for it……ridiculous.

I think the two are arguing from different points. One wants to be let into something the other is telling them to buzz off and not touch their stuff but make their own stuff if they like without changing theirs.

Its the same argument but not the same side.

Written by angry people who twisted the age old rule of “you can’t discriminate in advertising your groups or guild,” so that they could try to call Blizzard hateful.

Im saying to state that nothing has changed since the 90s is a foolish thing to say much less bother arguing about.
