I asked this in General chat over the weekend, and it got buried with no responses. I am not trying to stir drama, it is something I would really like to toggle. So reposting here in hopes of a response.
"The game visuals are stunning, with flashy enemy attacks and shiny friendly ones. However, as a returning melee player, I find the overwhelming visual effects—especially the constant flashing—distracting and difficult to manage. Is this level of visual intensity really necessary for modern audiences?
Is there a way to reduce or turn off friendly attack animations? It would also be helpful to have a way to minimize enemy effects, such as the dense purple/black puddles and circles on the floor. While visually appealing, these effects make it challenging to see clearly.
Are there in-game settings or add-ons available to help manage this?"
Thank you, I turned the Spell Density to Essential, which shows only mine.
Ground clutter says it adjusts foliage not spell effects. Is it the same option? (I like foliage out in the world and solo, but groups and raids I can turn it off)
I tried to adjust all the settings that was related to ground effects and spell animations in anyway, and none of them adjusts the density/transparency of Hostile ground effects/the new “swirlies”. They look cool, but they are also, to me, way to bright in color and distracting. It is hard to test if any of the settings work as I need to be in active combat in new instances to see if anything works.
TLDR, I cannot adjust the Ground Circles/Swirlies after going through settings. Any help would be appreciated.
This might be a monitor coloring-related issue for you then. The new circles are easy to see, but I wouldn’t call them incredibly bright or distracting. To each their own, though.
It is possible, I wont say no. I’ve done 2 different M+ today. Cinderbrew Meadery, and The Rookery.
In Cinderbrew, the dense, bright orange ground effects combined with the yellow circles from trash mobs and the large NPCs’ area slam made it visually overwhelming. The layered effects were especially distracting.
In The Rookery, the deep purple/black puddles were visually striking, but the high contrast and clutter made it hard to focus. While aesthetically pleasing, the heavy visual effects felt excessive and interfered with gameplay.
After two dungeons, I needed a break. While I appreciate the improved definition of effects, it feels too “stylized” and disrupts functionality. I was hoping for an option to reduce this visual overload
They are warm orange for me. I use a color accurate monitor for photography.
For me, these are perfectly suited to their environment.
Again, I think this is about color calibration/brightness settings. But the circles and additional effects you want to be rid of are a quality of life change that players have been requesting for years.
I am not asking to get rid of them, but turn down the knob of them. The new indicators are much better than previous, but. Id like to fine tune them a bit so it isnt so much in my face that I cannot see mobs.
