Um. Forgive my stupidity, but is there a difference between “dragons” and the drakes or whatever we ride around on as mounts?
If it can be a mount I put in my stable then let it be a pet. Easy way to figure it out.

There is a difference between allowing us to ride on their back, and us telling them to fight.
Um. Is it really though? As a mount they are nothing more than a beast of burden. They are kept in the exact same place as a donkey mount, and if I go to my garrison I can see my drake chilling in the stable like some common animal… kinda messes with that whole sentient being thing, dontcha think?
This is somewhat correct, but people love to over complicate and overthinking everything, so no fun allowed.
Someone even made the argument of a proto-drake that are more beast like, and it was quickly shot down by “they are too strong, and a hunter won’t be able to tame them”… my hunter participated in the execution of a Titan soul, and they are telling me I’m too weak.
We have lore evidence its possible. This guy did it.
Look at the Monk class Mount from Legion. Drakes may not speak, but its a mutual partnership that they help you.
I am not arguing that Dragons can’t be companions, I am arguing against them being strictly Hunter pets.
Now I am more confused. Which classes should also have dragons/drakes accompany them? Or are you saying you draw the line at hunter pets?
I can see Proto-drakes being tameable. They are not sentient in the same sense as the dragonflight, and the strength argument is flawed, since hunters can tame Devilsaurs. Since we have no definitive way to argue which is stronger, Proto-Drake would be a fair compromise as an exotic pet.
As for Dragonflights, I have to disagree wholeheartedly, as it would might as well be a companion for all classes, as they are known to be as sentient as us. Look at ones such as Kalecgos, Chromie, and Ebyssian.
no, we need a undead racial trait too tame undead based pets.
We kind of already have a couple of skins that are undead-like.
Then you can tame those undead dragons, everyone wins.
one does not simply tame a dragon…
even so, they are either evil or just flat out bein used .-.
If they were to be companions, you could argue that Blue dragons (magic) would aid Mages. Green (Emerald Dream) would aid Druids. Reds would aid Priests and Paladins, given the whole “healing and purification”. Bronze and Black would be outliers i guess, so you could divide them amongst the rest I suppose.
The Dragonflights wouldn’t follow Hunters just because of “class design”. When it is already in Lore that they aid all classes in some form.
You do realize Blizzard can literally write whatever they want in terms of lore and story right? They don’t have to follow some arbitrary logic, not like they have been in the past few years.
You can write a story of how a dragon, one singular, not a dragonflight, is rescued by a hunter because the hunter has tracking skills that other classes lack and upon finding the dragon, we rescue it, we heal it and in the end he/she decides to fight for us.
Like you are making it seem like it solid in stone what blizzard can or cannot do.
This exactly, and I cannot stress it enough. Time and time again, people say “Blizzard can’t do X”, or “Blizzard would never devote dev resources to Y”, and are proven wrong.
This is because nobody ever treat’s WoW’s development as a bunch of lame nerds screwing around in an office, probably constantly memeing one another as it actually is. They probably make lame bets about what they put in the game and crap like that! Instead, the word “Blizzard” is thrown around like “Burning Legion” or “Scourge”. Lol.
Drakes are teenage Dragons.
I mean they could if they wanted. Hunters are the only pet class that has to go through the process of actually allying themselves with their companion. What would a druid know about that or a paladin?
If, only if I get to tame a cow. They’re beasts, but can’t be tamed. I want to be within an instance as Beast mastery, and have both cows attacking. That would be so sweet.
Illidan did it
A tip for life: If Illidan did it, it’s bad. Don’t do it.
Illidan wanted to date his brother’s wife. Don’t do that.
Illidan enslaved several Broken tribes. Don’t do that.
Illidan tried to steal all the water from the planet to blackmail the population into joining him. Don’t do that.
