Can Hunter survive solo in Battle for Azeroth>

Returning to WOW after a year. Im wondering can my BM Hunter survive in BFA in Standard gear (not dungeons). I was having troubles surviving normal quests soloing, I play solo and wondered has it gotten any better? I played hunter since beta.

BM hunter was, and still is, one of the best solo specs in the game. Get a tanky pet and you’ll be able to solo just about anything but world bosses.

When it comes to just doing normal leveling content and quest in the game no matter what class and spec you play. You should really have no problems surviving while doing it. If you are having such an issue, then you’re playing that spec wrong in some way or the game itself. BM Hunter by far is the easiest to level and survive on.

I can’t see any hunter spec having too much trouble with solo content, unless maybe you’re lone wolf MM (no pet). Anything that has a pet with a taunt is rarely if ever going to be at the bottom of solo survivability charts.

If staying alive with a pet is posing a challenge, perhaps you’re pulling too much for your gear level? It pays to pay attention and take care when pulling, and in cases where you’ve got an extra mob complicating things mastering use of CC like traps makes a big difference.

Dont forget spirit beasts and their heal (I think they still have their heal)

Clefthoof they can survive elite mobs. Just keep them all full health and you will be fine.

Lemme tell you, I’ve levelled several alts over the past couple months and ret paladin would definitely be one I’m ‘playing wrong’ if this is true because it started feeling like I was gonna be dead if I pulled more than one mob at a time once I made it to the 40s. :joy:

I played an MM hunter, in fact a few of them, in BFA. I use a wolf with one, a tiger with the other. I mostly do the quests and an occasional dungeon and I don’t have much problem.

Don’t forget to use the “invisible” feature. I use it all the time to sneak around things I don’t want to fight. It lasts a minute in which time you can cover a lot of territory.

Also in BFA you get the whistle which will take you back to the fight master which saves trying to fight your way out after the battle is over.

Not sure about Beast Master but you could switch to MM for those cases where the Beasts are getting overwhelmed.

Ironically, Ferocity pets tend to have significantly better survivability than Tenacity pets [y’know, the tank spec for pets…], since ferocity pets get an inordinate amount of leech from their buff – A BM hunter with aspect of the beast gets 15% leech… their pet gets 38.7%.

Something like a Core Hound or a Stormsnout would be ideal, since they have a shield wall if they hit critical health.

I spent my brief 40-48 time in BfA on a hunter and it felt like god mode. Never needed help on rares, even in MM spec with a weaker pet.

I am very tempted to level a Hunter just to see this for myself.

So many alts; Not enough time! :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Core hound shield wall:

Stormsnout (Scalehide, if going by pet family) shield wall:

When on auto-cast, they’re used if the pet hits 50% health or less.

Honestly, I had no problem surviving as a lock. Affliction I think. Not the best at the class, but I can kill things pretty quick with the void walker if I am paying attention and life drain/health funnel.
As for BM Hunter, yeah that was easy. Only had some problems like if I went up against some of the rare spawns. I mostly play prot paladins and tend to do just fine. This is with the junk gear I got with just questing.
