Can enemy players kick you from a battleground?

Was actively running from Frostwolf graveyard to Iceblood and was suddenly removed from game + deserter debuff. My team was playing together well, no one was acting inappropriately, so I don’t think there was animosity in our ranks, unless someone did it surreptitiously. But that leaves the other side: can enemy players kick you? Is that a violation of the social contract/terms of service? I submitted a ticket but wondered if others know. Thanks.

If enough people report you for being AFK it’ll auto doot you, and that’s probably what happened if you spent more than 8 seconds near a graveyard while not dead.

This is why we get templated responses a week later now.

System jam packed with tickets that actually can’t go anywhere.

Can confirm this for Foo. I was there.

Doot. Lol. Foo, he said doot :stuck_out_tongue:

AI will take care of this soon. Next round of layoffs at Blizzard are in the near future.

If you are reported AFK by enough players in the match you get a 1 minute warning to enter combat.
If you do not enter combat then a second 1 minute countdown begins. If you again fail to enter combat during that time then you will be removed from the battleground.

If you repeatedly get booted from battlegrounds for this then the game will skip over the first warning and proceed directly to the 1 minute countdown when you are flagged as AFK by enough players.

You are never removed from a battleground instantly, you always get a notice and a timer to enter combat. You might not notice it, but it does happen.

Now, assuming this was on Classic, what happened was a lot of people doing the rank 14 grind would go AFK in AV and then complain that they were getting suspended from the game for AFK/non-participation because they had 0 damage or healing in over half their matches.
These players would then complain online how unfair it was that they were suspended for AFKing in battlegrounds, or they would try to rules lawyer their way around how they weren’t actually AFK, they were “holding a key objective.”

However assuming you didn’t actually go AFK, there have been several bugs in the past that would boot people from battlegrounds randomly, so that may be what happened to you.

There was a time when enemy players could actually get you instantly actioned in classic wow.

Blizzard probably out of laziness more than anything else opted to bestow the players with the ability to instantly action other players if enough reports happen and that # was a very small amount for some reason.

So there was a period of time where players in like arathi basin or whatever were just playing the game and then they would be dc’d off the game and actioned instantly because half or more of the enemy team all reported them making them effectively useless in the bg hence forth.

Needless to say it was a disaster and a expected disaster and blizzard quickly reassumed the ability to action for themselves.

It’s been a general rule that whenever blizzard attemps to give the players any kind of power at all it usually turns out to be a disastrous mistake.

Which is not to say some blizzard cm or gm is a divine entitity and completely unbiased who is able to hand down perfectly righteous verdicts but its certainly better than essentially kangaroo public court where you can be banned by the enemy team in a bg lmao.

Ripped straight from CS.

In DF there were rumors about that being possible, but I was always skeptical. Maybe you were sitting stationary for a while somewhere and got reported by some on your team.

I don’t think enemy players can do it for reasons like, mass voting a problematic enemy out to gain an advantage. Like it’s inherently much more malicious.

I would also be unsurprised if there was a loophole anyway.

You should also be able to test this as you are an enemy player too.
