Can druids shapeshifted into birds lay eggs? 🥚

This is a serious question which has never been addressed. Can druids lay eggs when shapeshifted into birds such as flight form or moonkin form? Would the baby hatch as its “normal” race, or would it be born as a bird? What do you think? :egg:

I have high hopes for this thread

In Norse Mythology, Loki transformed into a female horse, had sex with another feral horse, and then gave birth to a mutant horse thing that became Odin’s mount. Does that answer your question?

No, I just want to know if bird druids lay eggs. All that story did was make me question whether animal form druids commit such crimes against nature.

Moonkin are often compared to chickens, a type of bird which lays eggs every day. Would a druid who maintains the shapeshift for an extended period of time also start laying eggs every day? Could a druid just shapeshift into bird form, lay a few eggs, and make an omelette from their own eggs to feed their family?

It’s my understanding that a bee would be necessary in order for the Druid-bird to procreate.

I’m pretty sure the male druids don’t lay eggs in bird form… I hope. That would be awkward.

There is no canon lore answer. That said, take this answer and for the love of all that is dear, accept it.

“Shapeshifted Druids maintain a degree of their original biology. We see this with Night Elven forms having long ears, Tauren forms having bovine horns, and Troll forms having tusks. Much as these outward traces of the druid’s natural race manifest in the form’s biology, so does it manifest inwards. For this reason, Druids of the Fang (snake form), Druids of the Talon (Flight Form), and other such forms, do not lay eggs. Copulation with wild beasts will also yield no offspring, and it should be kept in mind such an action is considered taboo by the Cenarion Circle.”

Two Tauren would only be able to reproduce in their normal forms, where their DNA and their physical bodies would match, thus creating a Tauren baby. Attempting to reproduce in Moonkin form wouldn’t create a moonkin baby. Despite having the same reproductive organs, they’re not actual moonkin.

Easy answer. All WoW characters lay eggs. Except Tauren, I have seen a pregnant Tauren.

This disgust me on a level that I cannot explain. We need WoW laws against druids doing this.

Scared you might enjoy a druid’s homemade omelette? If Tauren can sell homemade cheese, then a druid should be able to do the same with their eggs. :egg:

OMG, LMAO!!! I sometimes wonder about WoW community mental health… then again its part of why its so much fun!

FIne I’ll play along. I believe it depends who they mate with? I mean Elune mated with a Deer and we got Cenarius, right? SO depending who the Druid mated with I’m guessing yeeessss, I think?

I think Blizz Devs as a Joke should totally do this to Druids! Then you can hatch them into Mount, companions or Battle pets! Do it Blizz DO IT!!:rofl::rofl:

Can we dispense with the chicken or the egg conundrum?

What is a crime in our real world where we consider animals and humans different (despite humans technically being animals)- may not be a crime in a world where people can turn into animals, we have animal people (worgen, pandaren, tauren, orc pigmen, etc…), and many animals are highly intelligent, some can even speak.

But yeah, druids probably lay eggs in bird forms. Hunters probably lay or give birth in whichever way their pet does.

I hope this helps you for your RP.

I remember reading back years ago in another fantasy novel, That pregnancy effected non natural shape shifters.
With natural shapeshifters There children would shapeshift with them. I always kinda went with that as a possibility in wow until someone says otherwise.

I suspect in a society with druidism as one of there major religions like night elves, they would probably have more boundary on intelligence rather than species. If we need to go that far into it…

Probably a case of does it effect shapeshifting as a whole, and what is happening to a druid when they shapeshift.

You see, these are the types of threads we need on the forums, asking the tough questions.
