Something I noticed in this expansion is dragons seem to only have offspring with other dragons of their own kind.
We don’t see things like a Blue dragon and a Red dragon having offspring.
Is this just a culture thing? Or can dragons only reproduce with other dragons from their own flight?
It seems likely they can’t. If they could I imagine the different colors/flights would be far more diluted after existing for so long
They have in the past. There’s a whole book about what happened to Alex. It’s…not a great read if you have delicate sensibilities.
I mean I can only say my own opinion as a non-dragon. But if I were a delicious red dragon I wouldn’t be interested in a silly little green dragon, no thanks, upgrade to red if you want any of this. Red-green shenanigans only accepted around Christmas time.
I reel like the red ones are the cutest ones and everyone knows it. Every time you boop one they always giggle. That’s my usual way of finding out if they are a lovaboo red one or a stinky filthy green one painted red + trying to make people think they’re cute when they’re NOT.
Blue is better.

In terms of reproduction, the eggs tend to come out one or the other… for example a black dragon bred with a red dragon produced Wrathion, who is a black dragon… there was a bit of experimenting but it goes to show dominance in dragons is a thing.
And what book is it?
Can’t remember off-hand. But the orcs of the Twilight Highlands used her for…excessive dragon breeding, is probly the best way to put it. You can even see the results of it in Grim Batol

Wrathion’s mother was the black dragon Nyxondra.
When Malygos took the red dragon Keristrasza it looks like he was thinking any eggs from the mating would be Blue. But then again, at that point Malygos was insane.
And any other hybrid dragon was created with magic or fusing something with an existing egg.
Yes dragons can have offspring with dragons of other flights. But that said usually it’s a dice toss on which flight the clutch comes out as.
Are there actually any examples of this?
Netherwing Dragonflight is where it’s at, you can keep the Red Flight.
When they brought out the Nether Drake it made the game better.

yes they can, but the offspring aren’t hybrids they’re just members of the mother’s flight.
thats why the chromatic dragons had to be fused together with magic
