Can Doomwinds cast proc WF/stormbringer?

Can anyone who has alpha access confirm whether the 65% AP damage on cast counts as a main hand attack for purposes of proccing WF? Or as a special attack for purposes of procing stormbringer?

If it can proc WF at least then maybe it’s not as bad as it looks. Still would be nice if this were changed to an automatic WF proc on cast if it’s going to remain on GCD so we can get FFW stack generation going given how short the duration is and how dependent of FFW stacking the damage is.

Alternatively, it would be nice if this were changed to an AOE mainhand attack like crash lightning so that it could be used as AOE and potentially proc WF multiple times on cast.

According to wordup’s guide:

The Windfury Weapon package on the far left leads to Doom Winds which is the earliest to access for big cooldowns. This currently is on the GCD and deals direct damage (which can trigger Windfury Weapon), and has been changed to triple your Windfury Weapon proc chance (so slightly scales with Mastery now) rather than guaranteeing procs. Considering the rest of the tree, this is more of a standalone package you grab for three points which is a pretty low investment for its potential, and could slot in very comfortably regardless of whatever else you pick. Removing the attachment to Windfury Totem as well is probably for the best, giving more control to it. The one thing I think is that considering the design space it landed in during Shadowlands, the on-cast swing could stand to be AoE (triggering a mass Windfury Weapon proc) to stay on theme, and potentially have some Mastery scaling.

So, the low ap on use for doomwinds makes alot more sense if it can proc WF. Also, the mastery scaling means you probably get like 6-9% more WF proc from mastery (since it’s tripled). So it’s maybe more like 80-85% proc chance rather than 75%. Not too bad. Maybe doomwinds counts as a special attack too for procing stormbringer?
