So, I tried connecting to WOW through my jetpack and it would load up to the point where you would get a flash (literally a microsecond) of my character screen followed by “you have been disconnected” screen.
Thought, maybe it’s just my Jetpack. Tried again at home on my home wifi. Same exact thing.
Disconnected from the wifi and plugged in my Ethernet cable and boots up normal like it should.
I’ve tried opening WOW from the WOW.exe. I’ve tried logging out of Bnet then back in. I’ve rebooted my computer. I’m lost.
My computer is new - 2018 Alienware M17 R4 and I believe all the drivers are updated .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
I can tell you right off the bat that this is going to be a process of “try this, then this, then this, then this, etc.” until you finally hit the magic nail. Personally, I only trust wifi for the basics - web browsing, email, social media, YouTube/Netflix, etc. Games, not so much.
It could be something interfering with the wifi signal. Cordless phone (yours or neighbors, if in range), cell phone, microwave, local TV/radio broadcast signals, neighbor’s poorly configured wifi - the list is incredibly long. Basically, anything that emits a radio signal, and then a few more things on top of that. If your laptop and the access point both support connecting over a 5GHz signal, I would give that a try as it’s less susceptible to radio interference.
If it isn’t something with the environment, then it sounds to me that it would likely be something on your computer since it’s happening with multiple access point-type devices. Or, maybe both of those access points have the same chipset and flake out the same way.
It could be a wonky wifi driver. Try updating/reinstalling that. It could be the wireless card itself has some minor issue that only triggers when you’re doing something more intense like playing an online game.
There could be some software on your computer that’s interfering with only the wireless card. There’s another thread where someone just posted about some software that came preloaded on their Alienware that was causing disconnect problems - Alienware and disconnects from server - #3 by Brennok-kirin-tor . It could be that if you have an Alienware, it could be security software, or some other seemingly innocuous looking piece of software that the manufacturer loaded on there.
Best of luck!
Open up the “Killer Control Center”, select the settings tab, and turn off “Advanced Stream Detect”.

This suggestion worked perfectly. I have been fighting with everything for months trying to play in wifi and it occurs to me now that the last time it works on wifi was before i reinstalled the killer control center. Thanks for the insight. you saved my sanity.
Can this guy get a medal! Tyvm worked perfectly
brah!! wth, this worked for me. as soon as i turned it off blizzard app connected!! i wonder what the killer control center does?
It kills your connection.
Not really. At least, not intentionally. It’s supposed to optimize network connections for better performance, but WoW’s network performance is deathly allergic to it.
They meant well.
