No classic+, no tbc ect.
What do you think?
No classic+, no tbc ect.
What do you think?
What do you mean survive? Keep anywhere near the level of popularity it has now? No.
I think it will shrink down to a small population who will be willing to play it for years. I canât imagine staying continuously in classic for even 1 year. Once I hit 60 and I get my pre-bis I will most likely wait until the next retail expansion or classic phase. I donât think I will be getting much gear from 40-man raids that drop 2 items per boss.
It is just a pipe dream, but it would be great if there were occasional unexpected things happening. Hoggerâs cousin shows up and they go sightseeing around Elwynn, Mankrikâs wife is cursed with undeath and has to be put to rest again, treasure chests start showing up in places that donât get a lot of player traffic, while fishing you see a sea monster in the distance, stuff like that.
The initial rush will eventually calm down some but those loyal will remain steadfast and the game will continue to do well.
If there was no new content as you suggest id say in about 18-24 months youâd be down to maybe 20% of the current population and as time passes it would likely go down further . as long as thatâs enough to keep blizz/activision happy. Then I would expect some form of just âClassicâ severs to be around many years
Absolutely! Thatâs how we want it.
I think at the end it will be mostly Nostalrius player and its fine like that. If people really wanted to play Vanilla that much for a while, they could have been done this before.
Like people said, vanilla was about community, which is still not the case with classic. Once most people will have leave and classic will be just a few server with people that really want classic, the community will maybe be less full of toxicity and will probably be at his best.
BTW i am not a classic hard fan that hate on retail player playing classic, i was always of those that think that the ââyou think you do but you dontââ was true for most people. I just think that nostalrious was a think not long ago and that was probably not far from what classic should end up.
Whatâs âlongtermâ, Blizzard have outlined many possibilities but given the gameâs barely been open for a month itâs totally not surprising theyâre still mulling over how to proceed past phase 6.
I think youâd be shocked how many of us never played on Nost or any private servers, and would gladly stick to Classic for several years.
Twitch over hype brought in loads of people thereâs is no way that a lot that came from that will stick around and i know i wonât as i came in because of the hype. If this was a new mmo iâd say sure but because it is this no definitely not. It might have a tight group of players but a lot will leave
On another note I fully expect with the popularity of the Franchise it would be in their financial interests to make a TBC or WOTLK and or classic+ set of servers in the future. Might be a progression through the 2 most popular xpacs , or a complete re-envisioning in classic+ , they could even do both. There is endless possibilities. and we will see
Depends on how you play it. The crowd that will only play one toon and hurry to 60 asap and run as fast as they can to down every boss in the gameâŚand hurry up and get bis gear and run as fast as they possibly can toâŚwell get bored and then whine and complain about content. Yeah those pplâŚwill be gone pretty quick just like they always have been. HoweverâŚthere are other ways to play that are a lot of fun that will take years and years to fully run out of things to do.
I think queue times will drop in a little over a week when some of the players that came back for classic end up leaving.
Many folks came into this like it was a race, then they will say that theyâre âbored.â Those people shouldâve played Classic for the experience, not the sperg race.
It has on private servers for this long so id say probably
There will always be people who want to play Classic.
I didnât say that no one does, thats why i said ââmostlyââ. Its just that the kind of people that play classic and didnât play Nost server just because it wasnât official are the kind of people that will get done with classic in the next year. Of course it not the case for everyone and classic will surely have more people, but not that much.
Its not because people dont really like classic, its because people get bored with the same content pretty fast.
why waste time and resources re releasing old content and whatever this classic + thing people keep mentioning is when they could devote effort and time into the retail version that makes it game where people that like classic and retail can enjoy? That seems like the more sensible route for them to take and they can just have classic as filler
I never understood this argument.
Illegal servers thrived for years.
BFA died not even a year later.
I think Classic will be fine. Iâd love TBC though.
Yes.
There are any number of games that have endured centuries without content updates. Basketball is still played with one ball and five players per team. Chess and Go have been defined for ages. Poker has managed to survive despite a lack of booster packs to enhance the 52-card deck.
The idea that a game needs new content to survive is a myth, because itâs based on the completely false idea that the only reason anybody plays anything is because itâs new.
