It’s so obvious that some designer came up with it and felt so proud and smart of it that they refuse to remove it. I don’t even know why it’s part of the final tier when it’s not even Paladin centric let alone how lackluster it is.
lackluster
blessing of season is as strong and more versatile than pi
Unexciting would be a better word to use then.
Realistically if it stays, cut it down from 4 to 2 effects.
Consider fusing Lightsmith talent into it IF it stays as is.
I’d rather they changed Lightsmith though.
What are you basing that on? I can’t imagine that Seasons is “as strong” as PI.
lolwut? Blessing of Seasons is awesome
- It’s 8% of a dps’s damage every 3 minutes.
- It’s 9 seconds of cooldown reduction every 3 minutes.
- It’s 36800 mana every 3 minutes or 200 mana/sec. If you account for the 2500 mana x 4 seasons that you need to rotate through just to get this button, it’s even less.
- It’s a 15% healing and/or 30% healing received increase on a target every 3 minutes.
It’s hardly awesome in my opinion. The rotating nature of it generally means you just fire off each one with little thought but you hold Summer and wait for it to align with a damage dealers’ cooldowns.
If used effectively, the damage it provides in a M+ setting is the best bit about it but honestly, the fact they nerfed it twice over the course of 10.1.5 - 10.1.7, it’s hardly good anymore and it’s just an excuse for our own personal damage to also be nerfed to the point where they had to do 30% increases to consecration and SotR to correct it. Not to mention even with a spell that ties our own damage to a DPS’s tuning, we’re beaten by specs that just do more damage and bring things like PI and Mark of the Wild which provide even more damage and don’t result in those specs being tuned around it.
IMO, it’s just another tuning knob that Blizzard has introduced to the game that they can’t get right.
Personally I think its a cool concept, but I really wish it was two effects alternating. I think that may be the sweet spot for stuff like this, at least with a good chunk of the community.
Just look at the reaction to Lightsmith vs Oracle. People were ok with Lightsmith for the most part, they were just frustrated that Blessing of Seasons already exists for Holy. Oracle is 3 buffs rotating, and I think that crosses the line of the complexity and tracking of one ability in a fully complex rotation. I think if they just did a combined Blessing of Warmth (Healing received and primary stat instead of %damage) and Blessing of Cold (CD reduction plus mana back) I feel it would be reasonable to track without 2 different weakauras.
As for Oracle they could do something like Solace: Healing received plus 15% for 10s, and Insight: Primary stat +15% for 10s. That way its easily trackable, and versatile enough to allow Holy and Disc to work with it to EMPOWER each spec. Not take away from either one. Also, replacing PI may have been a mistake. Let them keep it, or no one will choose this Hero spec.
Oracle needs to change, and that is a fact. But Lightsmith only looks bad because of BoS, so I agree. Blessing of Seasons needs to be removed or simplified.
I would prefer for it to be one talent node where you can choose one out of the four buffs, and have it more regularly and stronger. So you could take either the dmg, the healing, the cd reduction or the mana depending on your fight/playstyle, and maybe put it every 2min, or make it way stronger for each.
Personally, I can’t stand this button. It wasn’t used in SL, but some dev must really think they came up with something good to have preserved it moving into DF.
After the rework Holy Paladin picked up plenty more buttons (Tyr’s, Daybreak, etc) and now it feels really button-bloaty.
Blessing of Season is a prime example of something that should be nixed IMO.
Especially with the upcoming Lightsmith headache that looks like a micro-management nightmare.
as you stated, according to logs and depend on the class buffed. summer can provide a 9%-10% dps increase (pi is roughly similar % maybe more in other specs) \
cdr on cd heavy specs like boomie and mage which leads to a even higher dps increase throughout the key
mana is irrelevant but nice to have
30% healing recieve is basically blood dk’s main defensive cd but as a external which is very powerful on every spec.
its alot more flexable and frankly the only reason why people dont see its strength is due to summer being atributed to thehpal in details and logs
I think the mana is the best part of it in m+. Holy pally is the only healer that actually ooms right now…
Yeah but holding onto Winter as if it’s a life raft is also not it.
As I mentioned earlier, Winter restores ~150 net mana/second if all Blessings are cast on cooldown (and that’s rarely the case).
The mana problems we have now were partly created by Reclamation and Daybreak getting nerfed coming into 10.2. The mana issues have been partly addressed with the recent mana cost reductions to Crusader Strike etc but mana is still a major problem.
Winter exists, and yet we still have mana problems - so why would it be the solution? Sure, they could buff Winter or they could just as easily remove Winter and fix the mana problems by reducing the mana costs of more spells or reverse the nerfs / buff our active mana restoration talents like Daybreak, Reclamation or even Divine Revelations.
thats kinda sus, with daybreak mana becomes a meme resource according to some holy m+ people i know. but ya its nice to have
I am amazed they didnt change it when they re made the visuals. Seasons have mothing to do with a paladin. But they started doing word play with things like sunrise and daybreak as talents that now they believe blessing of seasons fits. When it doesnt at all.
It should be blessing of righteousness
Blessing of justice
Blessing of zealotry
Blessing of fanatism.
Idk I just came up with these from my back I am sure blzzard devs can do bettee than me
Please enlighten me then. I definitely omm especially on spiteful weeks.
Yeah I agree winter shouldn’t be the solution. I would much rather be running mercy but between summer and winter it’s just too good in m+. Like on my mw I literally end every fight at 100% mana lol. Same with my disc. I’m not sure why pally needs to be different, ooming isn’t fun gameplay.
Yeah, I hear you.
The two healers you mentioned do most of their healing through damage. To some extent, so does Hpal but somewhere along the line Blizzard forgot that most healers damage rotation is mana neutral. That happens to be the case for MW and Disc but not your good ol hpal though - it turns out that doing damage is basically just as expensive as healing.
Honestly the whole Holy Paladin Mana economy is sort of broken.
There’s a lot more at play with MW and Disc but in general Monks mana economy scales with mana expenditure and it has a crit modifier via mana tea and disc’s mana return via Mind Bender scales with haste. More Smites = more mind bender = more mana. Smite is mana natural ∴ Smite = more mana.
You’ll hear it from everyone too. Outside of Virtue, Hpal can’t turn on/up their healing via mana like other healers can and yet we go oom while doing less healing then they do. It’s so sad.
That’s an interesting statement.
Haven’t had issues with mana unless I pick Crusader, Virtue and BoS at the same time. And even then it’s okay, just need to eat once or twice per dungeon.
I’ve seen Druids running out of mana consistently, but not us.
I’d love to see a mana return mechanic linked to frequent use of Judgment.
Add more to Divine Revelations, Inflorescence, Reclamation etc.
