Can blizzard please explain how Blitz rating works?

I won like 3 games recently above 2300 mmr

and also lost the same amount of games around 2k mmr

like a lot of people are saying on the forums, the rating system for blitz doesn’t seem to make any sense and it feels like 50% of the time you win or lose is based on luck instead of skill.

its definitely not the most competitive bracket

if you said luck was not a factor at all, i would ask you to prove it

ive seen people do 0 dam 0 heals and win games

and of course i sometimes get ppl on my team who do 0 dam0heals and we lose

it rlly is a coinflip SOMETIMES

there is no system.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that the MMR of the players on any given team can have massive ranges, this is to keep queue times low. Then you have MMR which seems to go up and down much faster than your actual rating.

Both of these things can make you feel like you gain nothing for wins but lose a lot for losses. Both of these things contribute to the luck factor as well.

I think the system needs refinement for sure. But I really don’t understand the level of disgruntlement about this. MMR systems in this game have never been great, and it takes time to fix them.

I totally get how frustrating it can be for those who take Blitz as a rated PvP scenario. Pairing 2400 CR players with 1200 CR/low honor level players doesn’t really make sense. Clearly, Blizzard prioritizes shorter wait times over a fairer matchmaking system in Blitz.

However, for someone like me who rarely participates in ranked PvP, Blitz bg is fantastic. I don’t worry about ratings, to me it’s just a random bg. It gives me a better chance to play with others at my skill level, which really enhances my gaming experience. Also in Blitz I don’t see obvious queue synchronized premades, at least between 1.6k and 2k MMR, I don’t see any premade.

I guess we need more people to join Blitz to solve the coin flipping problem lol. Sometimes you really have no control of the game. But still, it’s much better than the traditional random bg.

I’d suggest one thing: high-rated players shouldn’t be penalized when they’re placed in a low MMR bracket just to reduce wait times. For instance, if a 2400 player loses in a 1400 MMR match, why deduct 30 points? Maybe just take off 1 point instead.

That’s probably a fair point, some sort of multiplier that takes into account how far above, or below the TAMMR the PMMR is. I’d be surprised if there isn’t already. We just can’t see it, yet.

they are gonna start showing our starting and ending PMMR in the final scoreboards next patch. So I think it will make more sense for those willing to listen to sense.
