Yes, i get there’s SoD and MoP:Re (and i fully enjoyed this) and things like Torghast and etc that does experimental stuff, but that’s flirting with the idea and not fully commiting to it imo.
Esp since it would be interesting to see their take on it. That and it gives me a good reason to make a Void Elf cat pally. 
Or a proper Rogue ala Thief. (The non squenix reboot)
Talking about a kind of “build your own class” style server? I think that could be pretty fun tbh.

Ascension is a Custom Private server where you can pick talents/abilites, etc from any of the classes.

I dont think it would be as popular as people think here. When a game is free, people will overlook horrible balancing.
Ascension needs to be brought down. Pretty sure it’s not legal like the old school vanilla servers before classic
Tbf, the server does go down more times then tuesday. Tho to most likely fix bugs and etc.
Not even talking about that aspect.
Just content difficulty.
That’s probably on their to-do list.
We’ve Hardcore WoW, SoD (possibly an early Classic+), MoP Remix, and now Cataclysm Classic.
There’s five different versions of WoW to play lol.
I imagine it’ll replace one of the other modes once it has run it’s course.
Having too many WoWs going at once is just gonna fragment the player base further.
Well it doesn’t help that Ascension was based off of Wrath the last time i check so…
But i see where you’re getting at. Which is why i think it would be better served as a separate gamemode thing to Retail like Plunderstorm or Mop:RE. Sort of let it be unbalanced there to some degree.

That said, i do think Blizzard shouldn’t replace other servers, i do agree.
I mean, I am not opposed to any sorta end of expansion game mode like that.

I think given the numbers on Ascension (which last i check years ago was 70k accounts), this idea i feel does have potential to grow under Blizzard’s eye.
And HOPEFULLY not be A LIMITED TIME EVENT.

After having a taste of SoD, it’s basically over for the other game modes for me. It’s either SoD / Classic+ or bust.
Two million players came back for SoD and only SoD. We aren’t playing Crapacylsm Classic, Warthin, or FlopMix.
