Can Blizz merge old school flying with Dragon Flying? We can have the best of both worlds this way. The main thing is to stop your dragon from gliding down. Have it like flying that you stay in place. Vigor can be used on the dragon flying skills the way it is now. Just that one little change can greatly improve dragon flying. I hate that you lose altitude just by staying in place and for me it’s the only thing that’s killing the dragon flying experience for me. Not including motion sickness for people that are having that issue.

Personally I think the DF dragon riding is a lot more realistic, physics-wise. I’m happy if future patches and expansions carry it forward. Leveling and questing by running around on a ground mount is exhausting and silly.
I don’t buy the opposition’s claim that dragon riding causes more nausea than the TBC-style physics-less flying ---- The player can just fly steady and slow.
I fervently agree! Most wild geese and migratory birds have the stamina to fly flat for hours, if not days. It’s not exhausting unless they are hit by a turbulent or some stormy clouds.
If the dragons are like currently in DF, gliding down in less than one thousand yards, then they aren’t even strong enough to fly around all day and find food. They will starve.

Only change I would make is to add a third button next to the “fly forward” and “fly up” buttons: A hover button that lets you just fly in place. Only usable if you’re at lower speeds, and you don’t regen vigor while hovering.

Dragon flying is what’s going to make me leave after 12 years. Spent to much time and gold collecting flying mounts. didn’t we just all chase after a pink horse in last Exp ?

I have hundreds of mounts that i spent years farming for and others im still farming for, id rather have traditional flying. I dont need realistic anything with it. If i want realistic I’ll go out into the real world.

Relax. They will unlock regular flying later on in the expansion. Have a little patience.

I think all that dragon riding needs is a slowing mechanism like birds have so that they can slow down briefly while maintaining lift. This would make navigating easier, and landing more realistic.

For you it did. And yes you will. When you go back to old world content you will be using normal flying.

im a bit worried. i genuinely like dragonflying so so much. im barely playing for end game content. If it wasn’t for Dragonflying i don’t think id still be playing. After being in shadowlands, i felt SOOOOO trapped. now its like, be lazy and use fp or boost dragonflying from one side of the map to another
These are the choices I enjoy. Do I want to use skill and blast through or afk the fp. Now they should just allow the 310% flying mounts just cuz I see no harm in having them lol. let all flying. TURN EVERYTHING INTO DRAGONFLYING!!!
Carpet mounts with dragonflying? Take my money
Don’t nerf my Gyrocopters with dragonriding mechanics. Keep them separate and, ideally, keep Dragonriding in the Dragon Isles.

I like the idea as years and tons of hours upon hours spend on farming mounts is gonna be a pain if we cant use them

When they bring normal flying in the expansion later, you are more than welcome to treat your travel route like my grandma.
And the cosmetic options on our drakes are… less than impressive

Yes, they really need to add a hover ability, where you stop, but stay aloft, and your vigor stops regenerating.
And that is what we want. The only real benefit of dragonriding is the speed. I’ve used Standard Flight for 14 years and Im perfectly happy to fly slower if it makes the game easier for me. Just add a button option like this:
