Can blizz do more about the carry spammers in the LFG finder?

Every time I go to the LFG finder to try and find a mythic+ group, it feels like half the listings are gold spamming sites advertising carries for gold.

WTS M+11 ANY SERVER

wts carry +10, gold in any realm

[WTS] AEP boost tonight

etc. etc.

For those unaware, as of https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20765567152

Beginning Monday, July 2nd, we will no longer allow any advertisements in the Group Finder for in-game services such as carries or boosts, including those being offered in exchange for in-game gold. The Group Finder is intended for – as the name suggests – finding groups, and these advertisements make it difficult to find active groups that are currently being formed. Additionally, these are often used as a cover for real-money sales, particularly given that in-game gold cannot be transferred cross-realm.

Yes they can be reported. But that doesn’t seem to do anything to stem the tide of these carry spammers. Even if action is taken against them all they seem to do is buy a new account and start spamming the search again.

But why not blacklist the terms ā€œWTSā€ ā€œCarryā€ ā€œBoostā€ etc etc? To me there seems no reason to use these terms unless you are advertising carries.

I do wonder if they even punish people for it, or they just made the report option to hide it from people that didn’t want to see them.

They should add a separate tab for it. I know people wouldn’t like it because it would seem like Blizzard is endorsing it but it would make it easier for everyone: the buyers, the sellers, and everyone else who doesn’t want to see it.

Just follow protocol, and report it via the right-click option. It’s the most we can do atm.

Carry sales encourage token purchases.

So… no.

they do punish them. they ban their accounts. they don’t prevent them from buying new accounts to continue the practice as that makes more money for blizzard.

blizzard could literaly hire someone to ban anyone that sells boosts in t he lfg for $10 an hour. they choose not to because we are not important to them.

I hear you, but I keep seeing them. Maybe they should put a minimum level to create a group in LFG.

Assuming they don’t. I always report them and they are always filling the list.

Seems like it’s a privilege that should be removed if abused as these people/bots are doing. That said, it also seems odd we have to use 3rd party addons to stop spam in trade chat. People posting the same thing over and over and over. Nothing but clutter.

I dunno why people still use trade chat, I personnaly hide it on all characters.

That could be said of a lot of things. I don’t understand why they don’t have people actively policing the game. Everything from scams to exploits happen in plain sight and nothing obvious happens. Not that something might not happen, but with so little visibility, it’s hard to tell if anything is done.

Mmm. Yea, it doesn’t offer much, but it once was a cornerstone of server community. I guess it just seems odd to be in a game and see no chatting going on. Sucks it has to be overshadowed by spamming. Trade chat… could be amazing if it was policed.

How dare people use trade chat for selling a service when I just want to see [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker] and politics

I find the ones who spam Trade to be even more annoying. Especially since it’s usually someone from another server. I’m in game on my baby Shaman right now and like I swear 90% of the talk in trade is people wanting to sell M+/EP carries for gold.

I’d rather have the gold sellers than this crap.

Blacklisting in games doesn’t work unless you bring it to the point of being restrictive of even regular chat. Marketers will always find a way to try and convey their advertisement regardless of how many filters you slap on the game.

But also, I don’t really see it ever effecting my gameplay. I use LFG often and I do see them but there aybe 1/8th of the groups? I don’t know… I honestly think it’s a cool thing to provide. You’d have a to be a sucker to pay for it and not just join a guild and get them done through that BUT HEY! I’m not your grandma.

Now what I DO hate is seeing them in tradechat at times.

Er, many of these ā€˜services’ go against the TOS. Just hop on Tich for awhile…

Even if it weren’t, the same bots spamming over and over just crowds out the players trying to use the channel as it was intended and how it was historically used on many realms. I’m all for people… advertising services, but when its just bot spam, its hard for anyone to actual see something they may want to respond to.

How is that possible? To most of my knowledge trade is server based.

Most are gold spamming sites advertising more than likely. But you are allowed to advertise carries in trade chat. Theoretically gold should stay within the server. Its the cross server carries that encourage gold buying that they want to discourage.

I tend to also report carry spamming in general chat because I feel it carries the same spirit as advertising in LFG finder.

Anyone who posts carry advertisements should be automatically reported by the system.

It did for awhile. I think the announcement got people to care about reporting those types of listings for a bit, but after that steam ran out, we came right back to constant carry listings.

I could have sworn I’ve seen people with the dash and realm name before. Maybe I’m thinking of something else. I don’t really pay attention to Trade

With Illidan literally NEEDING an addon called Block Chinese to see chat, I’m not surprised this isn’t working lol.
