I really wanna go full on morally Greymane. I wanna take a page from the Scarlet Crusade and just start purging the Horde for its crimes against the Alliance. It’s not fair that the Horde are the only ones allowed to be the “bad guys”. I wanna flood Orgrimmar, and light Thunder Bluff ablaze. Maybe even retake Silvermoon for the Alliance.
Just none of that civil war business. Instead, let’s just depose Anduin and those that’d support his pacifistic regime. And then let the Alliance war machine kick into full gear.
The Night Elves deserve their revenge. The Void Elves deserve their home. The Worgen deserve justice.
We’ll hopefully either get a villain out of Greymane or Tyrande. Probably Tyrande but it will probably be an it’s not her fault because it was the Night Warrior which would suck ):
That’s not how this works. You can get to be the aggressor but you will gain nothing tangible, your characters will be killed, and you will ultimately return to Anduin because he knows best and war is bad.
As nice as the moral high ground is, it’s not quite as enjoyable as actually being able to do stuff.
I’d rather fight the Horde who have caused my faction tons of problems, instead of trying to find the good guys in them and saying all is forgiven. Cause it’s not. Nothing is forgiven.
Saurfang himself invaded Ashenvale. Why would I be okay with fighting alongside him?
It’d be a win-win for everyone. The Horde would feel better about fighting the Alliance, instead of being blatantly the villains. And the Alliance would feel like they were dispensing justice.
Impeachment just means to formally accuse. Impeaching anduin won’t do diddly. Deposing him would.
Also, no. We won’t get villain batted, nor do I want us to. I play a good guy. I don’t need any of this BS to happen, and honestly, neither does the horde.
Well now we know the Light isn’t an infallible source of information, as seen with Illidan blasting Xe’ra to teeny bits. Hopefully the dystopian future Velen saw, too, was a lie.
This 100%. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Sure the Alliance would benefit from being more proactive and striking first but they need to remember that being villain-batted comes with all the drawbacks of being hit with said bat as well.
The first being that more of your characters will become prone to dying/becoming villains. Yes, this includes characters like Genn and Tyrande as well. Blizzard isn’t known for subtlety and nuance so I have no doubt in my mind that they will throw out all prior character development and fully commit to them being a Saturday morning cartoon villain like Garrosh and Sylvanas were.
The second is that their more diplomatic characters will become martyrs to stop said villains in a civil war. Anduin and Velen just to name a couple though I’m pretty positive that Anduin’s death would celebrated instead of mourned on this section of the forums. But still, the risk remains that beloved characters would get caught in the crossfire. It happened to my boy Cairne in Golden’s novel “The Shattering” after all and most recently, Saurfang in the War Campaign.
The third is that the real opinions of General population will be largely ignored and molded to fit the narrative instead. This means you will have soldiers acting completely ooc and start kicking puppies and burning down orphanages for no real reason. A prime example of this is Brennadam and Teldrassil on the Horde side.
And lastly, characters will start developing plot related amnesia and start coming up with loosely justified and all around terrible reasons for creating conflict. If you want an example of that Horde side go read the novella “A Good War”.
Are you absolutely certain you want all of this, Blue posters? The villain bat is a bundled deal, you don’t get to pick and choose. Which is why I’m trying to warn you all now.
we wouldn’t be justified in my eyes. Genocide as a response to genocide is a great way to ensure everyone keeps killing each other. It’s gotta end somewhere.
I didn’t really want to play this card, but if the balance of the game is going to continue and playing alliance characters is going to continue to make sense in high end raid content, they’re going to have to let us play with the horde characters. Look at the mythic raiding numbers. Almost all of the high end guilds are horde.
but not just that… we’ve had war in warcraft without hamfisted faction conflicts. Literally every expansion has had threats to deal with that weren’t horde or alliance themed. The war in warcraft doesn’t have to mean war with the other faction.
