I was thinking that DH lack a third spec…and it has been discus that Blizz Team plan way ahead, each new expansion release, they already have a team already working on next…could they have left it out on purpose?
-
With all this new story about Death vs the Void popping up slowly…could the next Meta be Void related? The Champion DH we play have the tittle of the “Slayer”…Old God Slayer sounds good in that line of work lol…or maybe The Void in their desperation to win against Death unlocks this power to fight what they call “the true enemy”?
-
Or do you think this is to far away from DH specialization? I know it probably be DPS with some interesting twist…though I be surprise if Blizz can imagine a healer spec for DH with Shadow…
-
DH have wings and Chaos, Horns and Fire… So it be Tentacles with dark Naaru Halos and Shadow/shadowfrost/shadowflame…?
PS: Now, now…behave don’t get weird anime ideas…lol (joking)
What do you think lore wise is it possible?
I personally don’t think so, and the whole reason is the runes that are covering the Demon Hunters bodies. The whole basis of their powers is taking arcane ink and tattooing their flesh in order to negate and bind the fel within them, essentially using the power of order to combat chaos and bring them under control.
For them to use the Void in the same way they would need to inscribe themselves with some kind of Light ink in order to combat the void within them, and that feels like it would be a new class it’s own at that point.

I don’t know…demon hunters, by virtue of being demon hunters, are already locked in a perpetual struggle with a demon in their heads to maintain control of their own bodies. Delving into the Void and inviting its maddening whispers to the party strikes me as the sort of distraction that would quickly lead to either the demon or the voices taking over.

Pretty sure they’ve said they didn’t add one because it was unnecessary and lacking. Anyway, it would be technically possible in-so-far as Blizzard can do whatever they want. But that kind of magic mixing (Demon Hunters being mainly fel) seems very uncommon. I wouldn’t bet on it.

Generally, Fel and Void are volatile enough on their own, especially when stuffed into tight packages like Illidari and Ren’dorei.
Combining the two into one body seems like a bad plan.

There is actually one example of something similar this, and that would be the Apexis. One of the things that they did at the height of their civilization, and that was learning how to interweave Void energy with Arcane energy into it’s own unique wondrous form of magic.
But it’s worth noting that took an entire Utopian society that literally lived in a Columbus-esque city to do. So it’s safe to assume that taking two of the primordial spheres and wrapping them together is fairly difficult to accomplish.

Oh I forgot about this! Fel and Void are volatile, but also the Light right…?
@ Darrethy: So what was what was Xera trying to do…? Is Light/Dark Forging the alteration of Light on the Arcane ink/tattoo they would need to combat the Void within?
It was most definitely not letting him use Void powers. Xera despises the void, is zealous enough for even Turaylon to think she’s a little crazy. It seemed to me that she was lightforging him inside and out, including the arcane tattoos on his body.
More then likely he would of become a pure being of Light had he allowed her to continue.

Ah I see… so there is a HUGE difference on how Warlocks and Priest channel such Void powers then… as they don’t hold it inside them right?
That’s actually a fairly interesting discussion. Warlocks would be closer to what you want, they bend both Fel and Void energy through sheer willpower into weapons to hurl at their enemies, all Warlocks use both these forces with souls as the fuel for them. But no, they never hold them inside their bodies.
Priests however DO contain Void energy, that is what Shadowform is. By communing with the shadow and void they are able to exalt their physical bodies into something incorporeal, not wholly of this world, that’s why if you look close you’ll see their bodies are actually transparent.

Hmmm, so Warlocks use souls to pay the cost of their limitless use of the Fel and Void…
Shadow Priests commune to exalt to the Shadowform…and since they have no Fel or demon in them they wont get overpowered right?
By the way I look at the Video of Xe’ra Light forging Illiadan I have to say she almost did it…his scars where already fill up by the time he unleash his Eye Blast… God I hope that does not comeback to hunt us! lol

However I would have love to see a consept are of Illidan Ligh forge…I wonder if Blizz would give him wings like Valkyr or go all Diablo Tyrael wings on him…
I mean, depends on what you mean by ‘overpowered’ precisely.
The base resource for Shadow Priests is, after all, called insanity.
Warlocks seem like they use void/shadow energy the way mages use fire and ice; as the magics of Order and Disorder, Arcane and Fel are sort of manifestations of the fundamental “building up” and “breaking down” of forces in the universe, so part of their nature is being able to grab onto those other cosmic forces and move them around.
Hence titans being able to use Arcane to basically rearrange Light, Void, Nature, Life, Death and the Elements to reorder and organize the workings of worlds, while the demons use Fel to dismantle the balanced arrangements of those same forces and break worlds apart.
Ah yeah I forgot about that! lol I can’t imagine how noisy can it be with so much wipers if your a Void Elf AND a Shadow Priest! lol
PS: I’m only leveling it up for the cool skimpy armor! GOD I was sooo disapointed when I saw the Nightborn elves all covered up while the rest of their race and their leaders uses they skimpy cool looking ones. They have blasted Tattoos on their bodies WHY on Azeroth did they gave us those robes, UGH!!!
@Raselle: Oh I see thank you for the reply… Makes me wonder what kind of “Shadow” Death uses then…since its like the “Enemy of the Void” much like the Fel to Light…
If Illidan chose to master the void or light he probably could and would. If Blizzard had reason. Why not? He was able to blow up a Prime Naaru.
Cursewords thoughts like that lead to medan
Do you want another medan?
I feel like some Cataclysm Quests that involved Demon Hunters also involved the Void. I know in Darkshore, if you fall into the whirlpool, ‘Maw of the Void,’ you can meet a Ghostly Demon Hunter and get scrolls that are used in training Demon Hunters, as an example.
I believe there was something else in Felwood as well.
Either way, Demon Hunters wielding the Void would either turn out Very Good, or Very Bad. Either the Void quells the demons within, replacing their struggle with demons for one with the whispers, or they have to deal with their inner demons AND the whispers at the same time.
