I’m a jewelcrafter and I’ve been making a lot of gold by crafting skilled illustrious diamonds the past few weeks. But there’s a big problem with the crafting order UI: When someone sets the minimum quality to 3 on their diamond, I can’t complete the order even after adding an illustrious insight to reach 375/375 skill, presumably because my base skill without the insight is only 345. This leads me to have to tell folks to set the minimum quality to 2 even though we’ve negotiated a guaranteed quality 3 gem using my insight, which obviously seems super suspect and makes it look like I’m trying to scam people out of their gold without guaranteeing a Q3 gem. It would be really nice if the UI could be fixed to allow the order to be completed when an insight is placed to bump the skill up to 375.
The logic is that because you are using a personal order that you must have “some sort of personal relationship” with the customer, and are therefore able to take the time to explain it to them and that they will implicitly trust you.
I know, it seems implausible, but it’s what the designers want. I think they think (based on the cringey text in the final quest in the Thomas and Miguel chain) that we’ll all become buddies and it will lead to some kind of WoW Shangri-la.
In practice it just adds another barrier to market entry for a less well known person.
Gottah disagree here. The catch is that 375/375 IS guaranteeing the craft and thus the UI should allow it to be crafted on a guarantee 3* order. Something behind the scenes isn’t registering it correctly. This is a program issue and not a social issue.
Might want to start a thread in the bug forum Faralea if you haven’t already.
The current test for guarantee is > and not >=. Or in normal person talk, you have to be above the line not on it. Which might be a bug, they haven’t acknowledged it yet.
But what I read Faralea as talking about is that the game won’t let you accept a craft when you are below the required skill, even though you are allowed to add a reagent that gets you there. The game can’t assume you have that reagent and are prepared to use it though.
Fundamentally there is a conflict between the bonuses and buffs and Inspiration systems, and the strict rules on accepting crafts system, which they are hoping to solve with social interaction.
My Engineering happens to be in this range for the Goggles. In order to test I just faux work ordered some from an alt. You can accept the craft but you can’t complete it unless you can guarantee it’s 5* even though there is an insight in the finishing regent slot.
The fact it’s not >= is counter-intuitive. I feel like you shouldn’t need 376/375 to be able to craft with an Insight but that seems to be how it is currently working.
I think it is more of a rounding issue. If you are using all rank 3 mats on the gem, you get 93.75 skill from the mats (25% of 375, the base difficulty), which shows up as an additional 94 because the display is rounding. In reality you are running at 374.75 skill, so you haven’t met the 375 threshold yet. It’s an display bug unfortunately. Their M+ scoring API has a similar bug.
