Player made campfires from the cooking profession still continue to do no fire damage to players when they stand on or very close to them. The campfires should do a small amount of fire damage to players when they are within a certain distance.
Patch notes found under the cooking fire ability that show that this mechanic caused fire damage to players all the way up until WotLK:
Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): No longer requires [Simple Wood]. Also, no longer causes fire damage when players stand too close.

Yet another sign they don’t have a reference client and are simply using TBC+ data.

Except they removed damage from camp fires in the vanilla BETA due to it being used to troll afkers.
Go check the old patch notes.
Since you seem to have them in front of you right now, maybe you can provide them?
Who cares about the afk’ers, make it work. Or maybe just reduce the damage so that lowbies can regen it?
This was a useful tool as a way to camp/guard an area as an anti-sap device. The tradeoff was you couldn’t move any where without risking being sapped.
This was removed from vanilla retail in the beta before the game was even released
Are you able to provide proof of this?
Why don’t you look it up? It’s just as easy for you. Or, can you prove this is not the case?
