Came back to WoW and have been kicked from multiple dungeons

Hi there! I’m looking for a bit of dungeon advice since this week has me in a tailspin.

I played WoW since way back in the day - 2006, and then quit around 2015 (40+ hours a week of raiding, the whole nine). To get back into the swing of things, I logged in for the first time this week and created a new hunter character. I have been kicked out of EVERY dungeon finder dungeon that I have tried with teammates voting me for being a “noob.” Usually, the kick takes place before the first boss pull, without any deaths, and without any chat taking place at all. I know not to stand in the fire, to do interrupts when I can, etc. I’m not an idiot.

Is there something I’m missing from “normal” level dungeons at lv 30? My Recount shows me as one of the top DPS, and my Item Level surpasses my actual level. Are dungeons just not for “casual” players? Thanks!

Only thing that might spring to mind: Do you have your pet’s taunt on auto cast? Because that is a simple thing that could be overlooked, yet make you look like you’re not quite familiar with how grouping works.

But I’m also someone who would try to explain it instead of kicking. People are too impatient.

It’s rare for someone to get kicked from a normal dungeon. Honestly not sure what you’d be doing that would be serious enough to get you kicked without being pretty obvious. It could just be bad luck if you’ve only done a few dungeons.

I definitely have Growl off. I had three lv 80 (max level) hunters before I quit a few years ago, so I am absolutely stumped.

The community I has become rather toxic these days, you’ll find.

As much as I hate this is the case, you shouldn’t expect this to get anything but worse as you level up.

You probably aren’t playing the only Approved^tm spec for your class. Does it matter that you’re lv 30? Nah, you’ve gotta be min/maxing every single moment to please the losers you get queued with or they’ll instantly kick you with no repercussions.

Welcome (back) to modern wow! :))))))

Funny thing is, I went ahead and chose the most popular/best talent tree options and spec for my character to try to avoid this exact thing. Even my Recount says I’m pulling my weight, but I have gotten SEVERAL comments about my “quest armor.”

It just sounds like you’ve been in groups with pure morons. I’m sorry to hear that. :frowning:

You say you quit in 2015 which would put the level cap at 100 with Warlords of Draenor. 80 was the cap back in Wrath of the Lich King, 2008-2010.

Are you pulling for tank?

Pulling extra packs that people tend to skip?

Always been like this, every game has its toxic players.

Lol no.

No? I’ve leveled up tons of alts from 1-50 and 10-50 in Shadowlands and not encountered this problem. Ran into a few toxic idiots, but nothing ground shattering or kick worthy.

Ew, passive aggressive. Show a bit more support, don’t feed into the already present hate.

I can’t say this has been my experience levelling. I have been levelling a few alts lately with the slowdown of S’Lands and I’ve not had any issues at all with dungeon runs. You say you have been kicked out of every dungeon and that seems a bit extreme to me. And curious, how do you know what reason they are using to kick you -you say they said you were a noob but also said there is no talk in chat. And no one knows what reason is supplied for a vote kick; if its successful you just find yourself removed and out of the instance.

I only ask these questions as there seemed to be a couple of contradictions. And, as I said, my personal experience has been quite different.

Tiny car energy to kick newbies from normal dungeons. A single full heirloom player can carry a leveling dungeon on their back most of the time.

There are a few way that will pretty much guarantee you from being kicked. It goes a little like this.

1: Keep up with the Group.

2: Don’t accidentally or purposely pull any Mobs or Bosses, that’s the Tanks Job.

3: Stay silent with typing unless absolutely necessary or you have met a friend.

If you follow this three rules you are just about Invulnerable to being kicked. You don’t have to do high damage at all. Mostly you just need to follow these rules strictly.

When you enter a party or raid group it is auto disabled now.

Can’t say I relate to that experience myself, I’m sorry for those jerks.

Ah, good to know. I’ve had my growl turned off on my hunters for years, so I had no idea.

Well, first let me say Welcome Back! I hope that you have a good time with other aspects of the game - as for all of those “Git Gud, N00B!” people, you have two options (I imagine there are more, but it’s late and this is all I can come up with).

  1. Join a guild that has fairly nice people to do dungeons with
  2. When in doubt, check out how everyone does it on YouTube - that’s probably what those jerks are looking for…

I don’t know if it’s still rare to be honest. People lose their mind whenever someone makes a minor mistake in timewalking dungeons that doesn’t have any bad consequences. I doubt it’s different in lower level normal dungeons.

I feel like everyone these days assumes every lower level character is just someone’s alt so they get mad whenever it’s an actual new player who doesn’t know all mechanics, every trash mob and every tiny detail about how their spec works in 2021.

you running petless MM?
If not, do that. Otherwise, even if you are controlling your pet 100%, youre giving a BAD tank and BAD DPS players someone to scapegoat when crap goes sideways.
If youre petless, they got nothing.

As far as being kicked, I just mentioned in another thread that thats what has me not running group content except where required this expansion…and in BFA.
The kiddies vote kick over the pettiest of jokes and Im not willing to watch or listen to it. They can wait until the next player running heals want to suffer their their immaturity.

One tank took a wrong turn during BFA and these clowns did the same thing…vote kicked him with some nasty response in the box. I told them while they were finding a new tank to find a new healer too and bailed.

While they want to act like petulant kids, I wont be participating.

lol…dont know what game youre playing but literally about half the runs this expansion Ive done…normal dungeons…have had someone vote kicked for something that wasnt worth wasting the time to take the vote. ONE tank deserved it. The rest just needed to be ignored and the run finished.
