My view as the character is as if I’m the character, too close for comfort. I am unable to get it to zoom back out, I can’t use my mammoth repair mount because of the view. Can you steer me in the right direction to remedy this issue?

have you tried /reload? Have you added any new addons to the game before this happened? Maybe try tuning off all addons and see if you’re able to use your scroll-wheel to zoom in and out.

I use an addon called ‘Advanced Interface Options’, which allows me to scroll the camera right out, among other things. 
(Also, scrolling the mouse wheel should move the camera back and forth.)

Yes, turned everything off, closed out of everything, restarted computer, disconnected mouse. Nothing new added - I use a tract ball mouse and it’s working everywhere else in game and in general. Just the zoom view. First real issue Ive had in 3 years of playing with this same set-up, hardware wise.
Try hitting the “END” key on your keyboard. See if that does anything.

I dont speak computer, where would I type the /command? I’m old, break it down for me please.
Not sure - but I believe you would type it in the text box where you type chat messages.
Don’t feel bad - I am old too and am often confused by computer stuff.

You can also zoom in with the “HOME” key, if needed. Use them to adjust the camera when your mouse wheel isn’t working.
