Calling your Mount

How do you feel about the changing the appearance of how mounts are summoned? Wouldn’t it be cool if your mount walked up next to you when you called it, then you can chose to mount with a right click?

Instead of it just appearing OUT OF NOWHERE

Lol I see you moving the chess piece for the checkmate - and you’re not wrong - but I do think having the drakes swoop-in, rapid extraction animation was a cool touch beyond just wringing our hands together to get a mount.

Not sure how that would work for ground mounts other than them running in to frame from seemingly out of…ahem…nowhere lol…would be equally as satisfying to me.

some little animation on arrival idk haha, the instantly poofing onto my mounts back seems invasive.

I think some mounts being summoned make sense. Like the elemental class hall mount from shaman or paladin’s chargers, but I do agree: having a more immersive entrance for non-magical mounts would be groovy.

oh i’m not disagreeing, just wondering how this would work for ground mounts. they kind of have to “poof” in from somewhere, even if it’s not right next to you. and the farther they have to go during the summon cast, the faster they have to zoom, which could produce some weird results!

I love the arrival of the dragon mounts, how they just fly in.

That said, I don’t see a need for them to redo the animations of every. single. mount. to boost the mounting experience, and I’m certain I’m not clicking on anything to select a mount. My mount is Shift-1, and that’s all I need to do.

What I WOULD like is a “summon appropriate mount” button that will summon my dragonriding mount in DF, and my Kitteh everywhere else. Or, even better, if I’m underwater, it summons a water mount.

Like everyone else, I tire of hitting Shift-1 and not getting a mount in Stormwind.

there’s a macro for this! i don’t have it handy, but Google will find it

I also made a macro that is probably not as efficient as Pyri’s mention, but essentially it takes my mount-up key (“H”) and then I switch the mount for the appropriate zone with “combo keystrokes”. Eg non-dragon riding, flying mount is SHIFT+H. My mog mount is CTRL+H. Swimming mount is ALT+H.

Can have all these occupy one button space through use of a macro. And, again, there’s a probably more simplified macro that Pyri is referencing.

Indeed, thank you.

This is the core foundation for a macro

#showtooltip
/cast Dragonriding_mount
/cast [flyable] Flying_mount; Ground_mount
/dismount [mounted]

Doesn’t handle the swimming case, but to be fair, that’s a real tricky one. Most of the time I want to fly out of the water, not swim in it. If they had a “submerged” flag, that would be better.

Gonna try and have this set up.

Red Dead Redemption just had it spawn from beyond wheee you could see. Same concept for a flyer,I suppose.

I feel my disc of the red flying cloud looks cooler appearing out of nowhere, materialized by the power of my subconscious.

On the other hand, I like that my Cliffside Wylderdrake swoops in (though sometimes I think it’s another player landing near me).

Some things would make sense to be poofed from magic. But like a horse?

It should sneak up behind you and attempt to get under you, nearly making you fall over like a Great Dane does😎
