I was replying to the person before me.
But as to your theory, I think they could pull a genuinely interesting rug pull by having us end up on opposite sides to her. Not “betrayal” exactly. But what happens if when we meet the larger arathi empire things don’t go quite so friendly? The idea of religious fanaticism is right their on their surface. It’s not hard to imagine some kind of conflict, and Faerin standing by her emperor.
I think it also made her seem more fierce and also older than she seems to be in game.

Nah, I don’t think she will.
I think that 4 expansions from now, when we go across the sea to the Arathi Empire, the entire Empire will be evil and bent on World Domination, and she’ll be the voice of reason that gets us in so we can thwart their nonsense from the inside, then she’ll take over as Empress at the end.
