I donno man I feel like a reveal of that magnitude needs to be way more than 3 lines of dialogue likely spoken just randomly out in the open.
I can see your version being exactly how they would have done it if it was real and I don’t like it to be honest lol
Meta-analysis wise, I do not believe it is narratively possible for Blizzard to choose to replace a Woman Leader with a Man Leader. Whoever replaces Sylvanas will be a woman.
I mean the Draka and Thrall reunion is 12 dialogue lines said out in the open lol 6 during a questline and 6 during an optional wait and listen
Yup and it also feels super awkward lol
More of an obligatory acknowledgement of the thing they HAVE to address than a real major story point
Point is theyve done it lol
For what could be possibly done well with Calia in her current direction, it has been shot in the foot by not having organic development. We get told on how very wise she is, but this is basically just told to us without really showing it. Forsaken have gotten little attention outside of bad guys to kill in BFA and now just absent in Shadowlands, so the role of freed undead comforter isn’t really being shown.
And who knows if Blizzard actually intends to do much with Lordaeron. Could just turn into the next Gilneas.

I know but my point is that if they’re going to do something like that I want it to feel organic and not forced for shock value.
Which is why I don’t think it could be done well in any capacity with the current writing. In or out of the game. Considering shock value surprise seems to be their own method of ‘storytelling’ now.
I think Lilian Voss is still pretty well done and I don’t need them ruining another one of the dwindling number of decent Forsaken characters due to the writers’ incompetence.
Yes but you do admit it is exactly the kind of story and plot twist Blizz has been doing lately

Oh absolutely for sure.
I’m still surprised they didn’t go with the dumb fan theory that Taelia’s mother is Calia. Because everybody has to be related now.

Meta-analysis wise I think it’s trashy for Blizzard to have ever gone down this route with a female racial leader and the first female Warchief. I think it sucks and is borderline unforgivable.
That said if Sylvanas herself does not return to lead the Forsaken (which she should and bad writing before this should not prevent a righteous thing from happening) then there are other choices that are more logical. For example the Black Bride character was always presented as a leader of the Forsaken only to be swept aside by a character that did not even identify as a Forsaken until it was convenient to do so.
(My personal preference was always a Theocracy under the Forgotten Shadow cult with Forsaken-Seline as the leader)

I think they thought about it but decided not to retcon Bolvar as dark skinned
I’ve gotta be honest I don’t get this Black Bride thing with you. She’s done literally nothing in the game or story beyond standing there in Legion with all the other Battlemasters for the pvp Prestige quest because it’s a pvp-based event.

I mean, that’s more than Lilian did for the Forsaken before BfA sooo…

It’s been 16 years and her lines have only ever been:
Quotes
Gossip
Eligible
Go, , into Arathi Basin! Slay, SLAY, as you’ve never slain before!
I would like to go to the battleground.
Too low level
Thank you for the offer, . Unfortunately you are not yet experienced enough to weather the hazards of Arathi Basin.
It would be like saying Radulf Leder is some Stromgarde character because he’s the Alliance’s Arathi Basin Battlemaster and shows up for their version of the quest.
He’s just the dude you talk to to get in the queue, originally. Showing up because the other Battlemasters do.

Radulf for Regent of Stormwind now
I guess that’s true. Lilian never stood around having no presence in the story beyond an NPC that you used to have to speak to in order to get into a queue for a battleground but don’t even have to do that anymore…?
There’s also some weird whitewashing of her character that I don’t like. Sure she wasn’t killing the Scarlets FOR the Forsaken specifically but she was targeting perhaps their 2nd biggest threat outside of the Alliance and royally screwing them up. So much so that she essentially destroys them from within for a second time.

16 years of being apart of the Forsaken experience vs. “I hate being the Forsaken” 10 years later “Oh I guess I’m Forsaken now” the next day “Lol I have a voice actor we’ve already paid I guess I’m the Forsaken Leader now lol”
I know which I prefer.

The Black Bride didn’t do anything. She’s never even acknowledged as a character in the story. She doesn’t even have dialogue in the one event that she stands there for.
She could be an inanimate object and serve the same purpose. She could be a summoning stone and nothing changes.
Dislike her all you want but pretending Lilian Voss didn’t do anything and then showed up in BfA with a voice and immediately became the Forsaken leader is just a lie.
Her literal entire character until BfA has been killing and/or stopping either direct enemies of the Forsaken or people who wanted to create and control NEW Undead, the thing the Forsaken originally fought against.
I mean damn her storyline in BfA is like the quintessential Forsaken-helping-other-Forsaken storylines.
Just say you are upset Sylvanas is gone and at least be honest.

Lilian Voss wasn’t even loyal to the Forsaken through most of BfA. You can ask her why she is there and her flavour dialogue is 100% just a call-back to her role in the Uncrowned and how little she thinks of the Forsaken. There is no logical reason for her to lead the Forsaken. None. She shouldn’t even be a foot-soldier. The fact that Sylvanas trusted her with a Valkyr in the story is already absurd, terrible storytelling.

Just say you’re still butthurt Sylvanas is gone and be done with it. This pretzel logic nonsense about Lilian Voss has quickly unraveled into incoherence.
The fact that you’re championing a non-character as the replacement leader says all that people need to hear about this subject.
