Some people are better off playing Warhammer than warcraft me thinks.
Any time someone uses the term âsavageâ when referring to a character with imagery clearly drawn from Native American culture, my toes curl.
I mean even if you are the most ardent Alliance/Horde supporter or whatever, regardless of the stupid BFA plots etc., Baine just seems like a horrible character compared to how cool Cairne was. Itâs surprising to me the emmissary his now, instead of being the leader of the Horde
cool / non-cool doesnt define how great a character is. Nuance does.
Blizzard thinks Sylvanas is cool even though she is one-dimensional. She is not a great character and hasnt been in years even though she has all these âcoolâ powers.
Hey, I make these post all the time and Iâm an Orc Saurfang supporter.
I donât understand the love for Cairne and the hate for Baine. Theyâre basically the same character.
There isnât a single major decision that Baine has made that Cairne also wouldnât have made.
And a character consistently acting completely within his convictions, isnât âhorribly writtenâ. Thatâs a stupid argument. Baine isnât like Garrosh who flip flopped between âhonor is the only thing that mattersâ and âlets use WMDâs and drink the old god kool aid because we gotta winâ.
Baine has been eternally consistent in his criticism of warmongers and the pointlessness and sheer waste of a faction war.
Sure, but I also said there are some exceptions sometimes, yes?
Baine is a good character in my opinion. He had the courage to defy Sylvanas , and he had the best interests of his people in mind in choosing to work with the Alliance. Would you rather just have him be a tough warmonger? That would be lame imo.
Bain was always the sensitive one, not really cut out for leadership. Cairne, on the other hand⌠now that was a leader. I was always sad that he never led the Horde.
They would.
But theyâd also complain when theyâd lose, because in WoW, being a warmonger pretty much always makes you end up as the bad guy, and when youâre the bad guy, you always lose in WoW.
What major decisions would Cairne have made if he were leading the Tauren throughout BFA instead of Baine?
Would he have supported the Teldrassil campaign?
Would he have supported a faction war?
Would he have supported Sylvanas using Derek Proudmoore as a weapon?
Would he have sabotaged a peace treaty between the Alliance and Horde after Sylvanas abandoned the Horde during another Siege of Orgrimmar?
Iâve no idea because that didnât happen. I guess he would have done whatever the writers decided. But overall as a leadership personality, Cairne has it well over Baine imho.
I mean, we already know who Cairne was as a character, it shouldnât be too hard to extrapolate how he would have responded to these scenarios.
If the writing in this expac was not nonsensical, I might be inclined to agree, but frankly, the story has devolved into a morass of confusion inconsistency and absurdity.
Baine is literally the younger version of Cairne.
They are almost the exact same character, except one difference, Baine is a little less experienced then Cairne is.
Anyone whose played the Tauren heritage armor questline would know this for a fact. Cairne approves and praises Baine for his choices and is extremely proud of him.
Its almost as if all the people complaining about Baine dont even play Tauren and are upset that Baine acts like his father and a true Tauren instead of acting like a Forsaken or an Orc.
I believe back in Cata theyâre about to make Baine into an alpha tauren, but in the last second they decided to turn him into Anduinâs beta penpal instead.
Hereâs his Alpha voiceline
Baine is worthless scum and needs to be killed. Anyone who treats with the alliance is a traitor.
Alliance bias.
It is never over until all alliance cities burn and the traitor leaders are removed.
