Did they recently nerf the rate gold drops from assault caches?
Across 4 toons I’ve got war resources in 8 of my last 8 caches.
Yesterday I got 2000g from both caches. Sounds like you just crummy luck or I had really good luck yesterday.
i thought they gave 2000g every time - I don’t remember actually getting anything else.
Rewards
There are many rewards you can gain from doing tasks within Visions of N’Zoth invasions.
Major Invasion Rewards
Once you complete a Major Invasion by completing a Black Empire invasion, you will receive 1,500 reputation with either the Uldum Accord (if in Uldum) or Rajani (if in Vale of Eternal Blossoms) and a Cache of the Black Empire. The cache contains:
One Vessel of Horrific Visions, used to enter Horrific Visions;
2,500 Coalescing Visions, which can be used to purchase Vessel of Horrific Visions with Wrathion;
2,000 gold
750 Artifact Power;
~120 Corrupted Memento;
One piece of gear close to your ilevel, scaling up to ilvl440 with a high chance for Corruption stats.
Minor Invasion Rewards
Once you complete a Minor Invasion by completing a race invasion, you will receive 500 reputation with either the Uldum Accord (if in Uldum) or Rajani (if in Vale of Eternal Blossoms) and one of the race-specific invasion caches ( Cache of the Aqir Swarm, Cache of the Amathet, Cache of the Mantid Swarm, Cache of the Fallen Mogu). All caches contain:
6,500 Coalescing Visions, which can be used to purchase Vessel of Horrific Visions with Wrathion;
2,000 gold
500 Artifact Power;
~50 Corrupted Memento;
One piece of gear close to your ilevel, scaling up to ilvl440 with a high chance for Corruption stats.

I’ve had the same experience as Marla.
According to WoWhead, that 2000 gold is guaranteed and resources aren’t even part of the loot table so maybe OP is talking about something else.
Why are they even dropping war resources still. It’s a bloated resource by now with no real spending power.

The change notice on Wowhead states:
Cache of the Black Empire contains Vessel of Horrific Visions , 2500 Coalescing Visions , Corrupted Mementos , 2000 Gold or 200 War Resources, and a chance for a corrupted item.
Weird thats it’s 200 WR, since 2000g is equal to 250 WR at the seal vendor.

well it contradicts what wowhead said I have only been getting gold from those
I’ve gotten both. Haven’t done any since last week though so YMMV. I’d rather get the gold, so you’re luckier.

ya are they gonna give us something to spend resources on?
ALL my alts have literally over 15000 war resources
i cant spend them fast enough 
and nothing left to buy with them…

I’m in the same boat, across multiple toons. Even the alts I barely play are creeping up into the high thousands.
Personally, I’d gladly pay 4x the cost if they’d just let me buy more than 2 reroll tokens per week.
New players could use them probably.
Just got war resources for completing the Aqir assault on my hunter. I’m now 9 for 9 on war resources. I guess this is another thing to blame RNG on.
Shouldnt there be back luck protection on this kind of thing?
