We don’t need world buffs in raids in Classic Plus. Implement TBC style consumes (reduced stacking) and ban world buffs from raids like TBC.
The game will be worse if you allow world buffs in raids AGAIN. Please learn from past mistakes.
Thank you.
Inb4 people falsely claim SOM died because it didn’t have World Buffs in raids rather than the actual reason it died but they’ll continually gaslight you about.
There was a reddit post about “which change not listed in the survey do you want in Classic+?”
The sheer number of people saying “no world buffs” in some flavor of another surprised me. I had actually fallen for the psyop up to that point that my feeling on world buffs was a minority opinion.
Edit: And yes, TBC consumes with battle/guardian elixir, or both from a flask, was such a great way to go about consumes. You could still chug potions on cooldown, so it wasn’t entirely flat. There were also a few choice non-elixir/non-potion consumes that worked as well.

SoM died because they ruined the raids with dumb changes that became SoD raids.
It was a joke.
I was more pumped for SoM than any season of Classic so far and loved the leveling experience.
Raids were so bad though.
I agree the raid changes were not popular, but I don’t think that’s the primary reason for SOM’s death. However when you stack all of SOM’s bad decisions, it was doomed no matter how you spin it.
September 15, 2021: TBC Phase 2 launches, bringing pre-nerf Tempest Keep and SSC, along with season 2 of arena.
November 16, 2021: 62 days after phase 2 of TBC, Season of Master Launches. By this point, roughly 8 raid lockouts have taken place in TBC, but many casual guilds were still working on pre-nerf versions of TK and SSC, with some never clearing them at all.
January 27, 2022: 72 days after SOM, TBC Phase 3 launches with Black Temple, quite possibly the most highly anticipated raid of the entirety of The Burning Crusade Classic product.
Here were the overall timing conditions:
- Vanilla had JUST finished, scratching an itch for many players that they couldn’t scratch for some 15 years up to that point.
- The Burning Crusade, which also had not been experienced by many for 15 or so years, was currently in full play
- SOM was asking you to interrupt or distract yourself from playing TBC which many hadn’t played since the original run in 2007.
Season of Mastery was basically dead the very moment Blizzard announced the release date, even barring any other details about the season.

It was bad timing also but the raids were absolutely atrocious as well.
Classic vanilla doesn’t need hard raids. They can’t learn this lesson.
I’m afraid they will try to do heroic, mythic, etc in Classic Plus and it will be so bad.
They can’t wrap their head around the fact that people like normal raids and don’t want different difficulties.
We’ve already had this discussion in another thread, so you know I do enjoy hard raids, but honestly I can take it or leave it. WoW has always been about vibe for me. Sometimes I just start a new character to chill out in the low zones, and when I’ve gotten my fix, I just delete them.
For example I’ve played both factions about 50% each throughout my many years playing, and I tend to flip when the vibe of one faction becomes muted and I start craving the vibe of the other.
It’s pure vibes for me. Vanilla has now lost its vibe for me at this point, I think I’ve finally reached that point where there’s nothing that gives me any thrill. So the only vibes I have to siphon off are TBC. I’d be immensely surprised if they created a renewed sense of “vibe” for me to discover in Classic+ content.
You can play retail for hard raids.
Every version of WOW doesn’t need hard raids.
WOW classic doesn’t need hard raids.
Okay, you continue to drive that point even though I didn’t push back against you at all. No reason to be defensive lol.
Because I’m tried of people pushing hard raids into Classic for no reason, especially into vanilla content.
TBC already has hard raids. WOTLK already has hard raids.
Vanilla is supposed to introduce players to the game and be easy and a chill place for people to hang out.
Zero point of making it hard or segregating players into normal vs heroic raids.
Those designs led to retail and led to people quitting the game in droves.
Classic exists because people were tired of retail.
It’s a good thing I didn’t push for hard raids in this thread then.
Sure sounded like you were asking for hard raids.
I’ll wait for your quote of me in this thread asking for hard raids.
You denying hard raids killed SoM is as bad as people saying world buff ban killed SoM.
You don’t get it like the devs.
Which is why Classic Plus is doomed.
I’ll wait for your quote of me in this thread denying hard raids killed SOM.
You said it but in a passive aggressive way.
So you can’t provide the quote. It seems you’re imagining things and then getting defensive in that fantasy.
Unfortunately I am not interested in your fantasy, so I think this conversation has played out its primary functions.
I’m not imagining things because you have the retail brain rot the devs have which is killing this game.
You probably enjoyed SoD.
You can say things without typing them. It’s called reading between the lines.
Ignore him he’s a massive troll
Do you have a citation for this or is it just your opinion?
I know. I just like watching his argument fall flat and devolve into character assassination or, like in this thread, a completely made up fantasy to support whatever his point happens to be.
I’m not impressed with low skill trolls. RIP Glinda.
