C-mon Blizzard it's time, Undead Paladins and Nightelf Shamans!

With the changes coming with the newest expansion, I feel it’s high time we add these classes to the mix.
I’ve always seen it as an oversight that Night Elfs can’t be Shaman, being in touch and in tune with the elements and nature as they are.
To counter it, and show some growth for the new breed of Undead which are arriving, I feel we need Undead Paladins added to the mix. We’ve seen Holy Priest Undead, so why not add some Paladins to the mix?

Holy priests and Paladins are NOT the same thing.

Priests merely channel the light. Paladins infuse their very being with the light.

Holy priest = fire mage

Paladin = fire elemental

The only way you’ll get undead paladins is if we get an AR like Calia.

As for nelf shamans, I think it’s more of a culture thing. nelves aren’t really that shamanistic

Weren’t there already undead paladins in the more? Anyone saying “it’s impossible cuz lore” is just conveniently ignoring sir zeliek, Calia, pretty sure there was another undead who was “redeemed” by the light back in WOTLK but I might be getting facts mixed up.

Calia wasn’t around in WOTLK. Something happened with her dying and becoming a lightforged undead or something post legion IDK

Not until alliance get worgen paladins, night and void elf paladins and Kul tiran paladins. Alliance should be the faction that is paladin dominant, not the horde.

Those are three different examples.

Sir zeliek since at least TBC. Calia. And. Third undead in WOTLK whos name I forget and might be getting details mixed up with.

Uuh maybe you’re thinking of the argent crusader who had the plague and was “Redeemed” (Still died just went to naaru heaven or whatever) by the naaru?

It’s time for mechagnomes demon hunters!

Exceptions are not the rule.

No, it’s not time.

Priest =/= Paladin

Night Elves have are in tune with nature, not elements. They have very little connecting them to the elements.

Night Elf Paladin would have been a perfect addition to the nightwarrior story. But noooo.

I am surprised Night Elves did not get Paladins given the events of Legion. Seems like they really messed up by not delivering them.

I think we’ve got a shot at Undead Paladins. To anyone who says Paladins are infused with Light… they aren’t. I am infused with Light. Paladins use the Light like Priests use the Light. Maybe the in-game lore makes allusions otherwise, but recall that Blood Elf Paladins existed throughout BC by bending the Light to their will. It was not an acquisition that infused them with it, although with Velen giving Muru’s heart to the Sunwell, the relationship has changed and I would say many BE Paladins are back to a normal relationship with the Light (certainly Liandrin).

Furthermore, the language of being suffused or infused with the Light on the part of the Paladin is poetic or exaggerated. Similar to much theological talk that is borderline incomprehensible. It is stressing the depth of the connection, which is important.

I know the Light has a searing effect as a force on the Undead. Actually using it is unpleasant. As an idea, there is nothing about the Light that is antithetical to the Undead, especially since they have regained their free will and are essentially human in nature. I actually think the events of SL are queuing us up for Undead Paladins.

The Undead rallied around Sylvanas because she represented the best of them. She was used by Arthas in his conquest and longed only to see him brought low. When they were freed and hated/feared by all other races, she rallied them and gave them a home and a chance at a new life. Undead identity = Sylvanas for so long. I bet this is why they had her go off the deep end, although some are hoping for some kind of redemption arc. Sylvanas is basically pro-Undead, screw everyone else. Seeing her do what she has done is going to cause a lot of Undead to re-evaluate things. I think the pro-Undead sentiment will be replaced by grim acceptance.

Yes, Undead are aberrations of the natural order and the natural order is a necessary thing, because it’s subversion will ultimately end in disaster. None of the Undead asked be so cursed, and it does not define who they are, but it is a curse nonetheless and stemming its spread and stopping their people from becoming zealots for their own cause is as important as protecting themselves from others…

Enter the Undead Paladin order. A grim arm of the Paladin class, dedicated to the unenviable task of keeping death in check, of being strict arbiters of order. In many ways, not too far removed from Death Knights in outlook and thus I think if they are brought into the fold, Fordring (or maybe his replacement) will be a key figure in their story.

When you end up having multiple instances of an exception it becomes the rule. There are also the undead scarlet crusaders.

Nah bro, no forsaken pallies.

How they introduced a NE paladin in Legion was insulting to paladins. It should have been a long quest chain training her instead a “I always wanted to be a paladin, so I guess I’ll become one now”.

3 exceptions, all of them having light abilities through their own unique methods, hardly justifies making them the rules.

All of them have their light abilities through extreme means. There’s nothing special about your average forsaken to justify being a pally.

Also, to my knowledge, undead scarlets are no longer paladins. I have never seen any undead paladins in none of WoW’s content that includes the scarlet crusade.
