Nothing good ever came of warchief seat, you had 2 things happened:
They were peaceful and boring, nothing happened.
They went crazy and used the horde as tools to fuel their stupid war, nearly ending the horde until betrayed in civil wars.
The council allows for “checks and balances” considering everything the horde has gone through, they just cannot have one person leading the horde as a tyrannical maniac.
How do you feel about the warchief position officially being terminated?
The new council has: Thrall, Lorthemar, Baine, Rhokan, Thalyssra, Gazlowe, Mayla, and Geya’rah and,(forsaken leader to be added later, currently empty)
It’s long past time the Horde evolved passed the tribal, single-point-of-failure, muscleiest guy leads model. It always fails, and there is no excuse for not knowing better by this point. There was no excuse for not knowing better long ago, but I suppose we should take what we can get.
I can’t say I’m a fan of becoming red Alliance but if they’re making a council headed by Baine and putting Calia in charge of the Forsaken I think that’s basically where we’re headed.
The Loyalists will secretly foment insurrection, causing the people of the Horde to realize that the “council” consists of nothing but Alliance puppets. A rebellion will occur, Baine and Calia and Derek will go scurrying back to Anduin, and then the Horde will be restored.
There are all kinds of ways that government by committee can go sideways. I recommend the Soviet Union under Brezhnev as a case study – no one ever had enough authority to do anything useful, so nothing useful ever got done.
It still has Thrall, who is a coward and walked away from the Horde, rather than staying and working to make it better.
Baine, who is a cheap imitation of his father and a traitor (even if your leader is evil, turning on them is still traitorous).
Gallywinx, works for the highest bidder.
Lorthermar, actual awesome dude
