Can someone help me interpret these official rules from Blizzard?
This is confusing to me, let’s look at this that I found on the Blizzard website:
" You are not allowed to buy or sell WoW items, products, or services for real money. Accounts involved in real money transactions may be penalized under our [End User License Agreement
You can buy or sell WoW items and some in-game services for gold.
If you want to buy or sell gold, you must use the [WoW Token service]
If you want to buy or sell boosting or carry services:
If you are a seller, you must adhere to [advertising rules]
If you are a buyer, you must not share your account with your booster. Please note that boosting and carry services are unsupported.
If you want to buy or sell a WoW item, use the in-game trade window, the auction house, or C.O.D mail."
You’re not allowed to buy or sell for real money
This is pretty self-explanatory
You can buy or sell game services and items for gold
Ok, what’s a game service? Is it a game service sold by Blizzard or by another player?
If you want to buy or sell gold - you must use the wow token.
Ok but who would I be selling gold to?
If you are a buyer you must not share your account.
Ok of course.
Please note that carry or boosting services are not supported.
What does this mean exactly? In the first sentence of the paragraph, it clearly stipulates that you can buy services for gold, but it doesn’t specify what type of services, but now it says it’s not supported. What’s not supported?
Maybe a blue can pitch in here. I’m not a lawyer but this is not specific enough. I would really suggest that your legal team reviews this. It’s unclear what you can or can’t do.
All I want to know is
Can I buy boosts with gold that I purchased from wow token?
It just means that the transaction isn’t supported/backed by them; if you pay me 100k for a dungeon clear and I flake then that’s it. If you submit a report and I get reviewed then I may get suspended and have the gold removed but you won’t get it back (or the run).
No I’m not upset. I was going to take a break until 10.2 any way.
I was just wondering because I bought M17 boost to gear up a new character and was wondering if in the future I can do this as long as I get the gold from the token rather than a third party.
I can clear +17 dungeons and HC Aberrus with my eyes closed. What I can’t do is get 4 people to trade me a trinket that drops in Freehold unless I pay them for it.
So in the future I just stick to buying gold with token but I can still AFK and get boosted through dungeons/raids?
As long as you only spend irl money on tokens, then you’re good. The second you spend irl money on AOTC, PVP, m+ any other way than tokens, then you’ve broken ToS.
But beware, boosting is based on trust, so if someone doesn’t follow through, you probably won’t get your gold back.
As long as blizzard gets a cut out of the real money then is all good. IE a boosting or carry service partner with blizzard and gives a share of each carry to blizzard then it is ok too.
Yes lol, thats what blizz whats you to do, buy token for real money and use only in game gold, although i wouldnt buy any boosts right now at the end of the season it would be a waste , wait till season 3
It means that the transaction isn’t backed by them, meaning that if you get scammed then you will have little to no recourse. To answer your questions in order too:
A game service in their context refers to another player or set of players offering a service, or boost of some sort, be it a raid, mount, achievement, reputation or keystone boost. Those are what their defining as a service per say, given by definition that’s what is it, its just the community refers to it as boosting.
You are “selling” gold to another player in a essentially legal way, when someone posts a token to the AH, someone else is able to buy it off the AH, thus “selling” their gold, in exchange for the token which can be used for game time or blizzard balance. While the person who bought the token and posted it is given the gold from the other person in exchange for the token, thus again “selling” and “buying” the gold.
To add to what I said at the start what their referring to are their own services that are provided by the shop, and vendors in game. Those are backed by blizzard and they are legally required at least with the shop to offer refunds and etc. as needed in case anything were to go wrong. However, in the case of players they are unable to control their actions and thusly do not support any sort of sale or transaction between players.
As for your final question yes any gold you gain from the wow token is “clean” and can be used for anything you want in game. So if you buy a token and want a boost, you are clear for doing so and will not get any sort of recourse as long as you don’t buy any sort of RMT service or gold.
This is fine and said perfectly well if u use a third party bad if u use ingame serveices and only use gold its allowed if anything happens ie they take your gold and run its not on blizz its on u for not trusting them
