Buying another racial/different mount?

Hello,

I am saving up for my mount and just wondering if I can buy a non-racial mount if I don’t have the full rep (exalted I think) with another race, as I don’t really like the Kodo for Tauren race.

You must be exalted to buy whatever mount you want.

Pretty sure Tauren can only ride Kodo, except for mounts that drop as loot or from PvP vendors. They were considered too heavy.

Edit: besides that fact, you need to be exalted with the race you want the mount from if it’s not your own. Which can be pretty hard or expensive. The best way to do that is do all the quests for that faction as you level because you get far less rep for doing grey quests

in classic couldn’t tauren only use kodo? like gnomes and dwards were the only races that could ride mechano striders ?
