First off I tried to post on the toon Im talking about but it wasn’t an option. I’m back after having been away since legion and leveling a monk. I can’t believe the amount of abilities I have to watch and/or use. 15 of them and I’m only level 29. How many am I going to have at level 90? Also it seems from what I’ve been reading that they pruned abilities for Midnight so how many did you all have before this?
There is no button bloat.
If you need more spots, you can go to the game menu by hitting ESC (escape), select Edit Mode, and make more of the action bars visible.
Also, you won’t have that many more abilities, there’s a lot of passives and replacements and such as you level up.

Most classes are 4 base rotational abilities, a couple of cooldowns and a couple of defensives. And they just did the Great Button Purge of 2026.
So I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I too came back from BFA and monk has barely changed Since then actually.
Rotations a little different but almost all the same abilities minus a few

You do know that you actually don’tt have to put every single ability on your bars right?
You can leave some off and only use the ones you actually need .
Might recomend you go to either icyveins or wowhead and check out the rotations for your spec .

Button Bloat after the pruning, funny guy.
Before the pruning i had 4-5 bars now I just use 3 bars,2 on some classes.
Stack em up in the middle so you can click abilities you’d use less often.
Bar 1. 1-= (more frequently used abilities) Thats 12 keys for main abilities.
If you’ve got a mouse with lots of buttons you can bind keys to that as well.

You gain abilities fast, and it slows down as you get closer to the Cap

I was leveling as brewmaster but after looking at the other tanks it seems they all have less going on. Maybe I just need to reroll.
Monk is one of the few exceptions right now. Them and arms war have a crap ton of buttons while the rest of us are begging for more.
only like 5 of those buttons are rotational most likely. the rest is just “oh maybe i should press this thing in this particular situation”. its really not that bad you’ll see.

Try to keep as many buttons as possible. Hide them. You will want them later, but they will be gone.
Monk starts with a decent kit, but doesn’t get a lot of abilities after that (mostly zenith and RDP).
They’ve already overpruned and oversimplified every single class going into Midnight. We don’t need to lose any more.

What monk spec are you playing?
WW only really has like 6 abilities you’re actually using.
The core BM rotation is 4-6 abilities.
The one button rotation uses too many buttons.
