Button Bloat Topic

This is objectively wrong. Estimated player numbers have been on an over-all decline since like wrath. I expect it to continue on for a long time yet, but we’ve not seen real, lasting player growth for a long time. I do still like the game, for the most part. Do you know who doesn’t? Anyone I’ve tried to get to play in like the last 5+ years. It’s too much and they’re not interested or move on quickly when they hit the endgame wall.

I have a bm hunter alt that I mess around with in SS and bgs. I legitimately have 32 necessary keybinds. I have 4 different offensive cool downs. This is for the brain dead npc class. I mostly main a resto shaman. With pvp talents I have around 40 necessary abilities. That’s too much, and its off-putting to anyone considering the game. You shouldn’t need 40 different abilities to make a game feel deep.

Hopefully, Blizz listens to points like these and they don’t fall on deaf ears. I’m convinced that there actually are a handful of players that would rather the PvP population dwindle away to under 100 mglads fighting each other until the heat death of the solar system than “cater to cassuuuuls” by making the game more accessible and approachable.

With the exception of demon hunter, ALL other classes I gotta see what is and is not on the global cooldown, wich spells work well together with the cooldowns, then combine ALL that Boat, ALL that crap into a few macros…

I understand the R1 ELITES, can fill all their cast bars with spells and abilities and play it like a Piano, way too much investment for a silly video game. Not even mentioning that you gotta train yourself to NOT look at the game, instead you stare at cooldown bars, and addon gizmos lol. Witch alone the addons is a whole topic of its own, boring hours of guides learning how to use the stinkin things.

I wish for one expansion Blizz would BAN macros, and put everything on the GCD, show players how Bloated it truly is.

Thats why many adults love watching sports ball, they live vicariously through young adults… Sports bars make a ton of money off those fools lol.

Some players know its bloated, but they say its easy, because it fluffs their ego. If they say its hard, or boated, then they may get booted from the cool kids club.

ITS AN OLD OLD game, needs alotta work to catch up with the times. Most toons I play, I get them to 1800 easy for the moggies, but to do so I combine ALL that Bloat, all that crap into macros.

I dont even know how this is an argument, game has went insane off the deep end because Devs dont play wow, they just write the code based off of feedback from what the .01% ELITE professional players say.

Im not reading all that but i dont see a button bloat issue personally. I think theres a good amount.

Low effort reply gets a low effort response.

“Cool.”

Thats a good point, and I believe it… WoW and all the other side games that have come and gone like HOTS and the others were probably funded off the backs of wow player subs.

They 99% who pay a sub, that funds the devs, funds the games, and they DESPISE YOU for it. Yes the Elites would rather the game die then to have an active population of players having fun and NOT living to their expectations of the game in ages past.

HOTS could have been a sick BG mode for wow…

I loved HotS! Would have been glad to see it continue.

I love playing rogue, its a fun alt of mine…

If I had to put every single button out of the spell book onto the bars, NO macros, no combining things. It would be a nightmare and unfun to play…

Thats just a casual gamers opinion, YOU ELITE players, you could add on another 20 buttons, and they would be in heaven…

Question is, new players coming into wow, how do they see it??? Is it Fun? Just to learn to play at the basic level they will need a massive time investment, practice, study. Hours of videos learning about complex addons. Goodbye to freetime, friends, a life, you know, the requirements to GET GUD lol.

Not enough new players are playing pvp, its an old game in decline.

Taking a quick glance my at class…

Feral has Survival Instincts and Barkskin. Could easily be rolled into a single damage reduction ability with multiple charges.

Balance has Moonfire and Sunfire, when talented, both can be DoT cleaves. Can easily just make them a single dot and get rid of the eclipse mechanic. Let them focus on using increased utility, instead or “balance”.

Resto has many HoTs that I’m not sure adds to gameplay. The goal is to get many hots going for the mastery multiplier, but I’m not sure having to press several different buttons that essentially do the same thing is necessarily good gameplay.

Those are just a few examples. Every class is filled with them. I’d love if we had maybe 4-5 core mechanic spells, and then at least double that as utility/reaction spells. A lot can be cleaned up, if done correctly, that adds to gameplay by giving more utility spells where skills can be expressed better.

Yeah thats funny! But I will play along…

How many new players get a dose of wow, easy at level 1, as it progresses, the time sink becomes deeper. OH they need this list of 20 mandatory 3rd party addons, no more looking at the world, now you stare at timers and addon gizmos lol. I mean you have only a couple dozen keybinds, that must be in the right order, at the right time, with split second reactions, totally easy.

OH you wanna raid, now you must learn to 3rd party SIM your character a thousand times, every change or piece of gear, you gotta sim, sim, and sim some more… That is time not playing, not having fun.

OH you wanna join a guild team or players, wheres your paperwork, lets see those parses…

Maybe I am the crazy one here and you are all sane lol. But I think its CRAP, its a semi truck filled with Bull BLOAT poo lol. Its an OLD game on the decline because everyone is too stubborn to change with the times.

Bruh wat? Those games have aiming mechanics. WOW is primarily tab targetted

ALL of your ““LEET”” players and streamers should be all about making wow pvp easier by removing bloat.

Leme explain, making wow easier brings in and retains more players. More players equal more “Coaching”, more viewers and donations on the streams, it means MO MONEY…

you never had to sim you chacter once but dps siming gear has been around since wotlk why is a problem now?

Because new players wanting to play a video game, are not gonna go through all that crap just to play at the basic level, they are not going to be farmed endlessly and told they are bad, they will just quit and give their money to a different game, as this one dies.

Just youtube “” World Of Warcraft Is Too Complicated For New Players"", differnt streamers break it down much better than I ever could. But they are right… Its an OLD dieing game in slow decline. Blizz is too stubborn to change, and the old guard would rather the game die out and join other forgotten MMOs then to change.

Find wow one day on the steam 5 dollar bundle next to ever quest and runescape lol.

i pved last raid tier of BFA didn’t need to sim got my mythic mount you don’t have to sim you just know what stats you need and that’s an easy google and considering people meta game every specs stat prio its not something hard to find the games so dumbed down you don’t need to sim any more hit/expertise gear reforging

Made a topic about this in GD a week or so back.

People just lose their minds over the topic. Having 6-8 dps abilities with 2-3 modifiers is MORE than enough for depth. My SV has 9-10 and my enhance has 11-12. It’s dumb and totally overkill.

I don’t want to see WoD level pruning, but playing whack-a-mole to DPS gets old. I like the idea overall of the talent trees, but they leave opportunity for way to many keys. They could also remove some CC as well. >.>

GRATZ, some of you players are super human, to you a Mythic raid or a Glad mount is just a starting prize…

But to the 99%, they are gonna say to heck w this… Its just gonna be a lone few servers on a dead game, with the steam 5 dolla bundle for sale lol. Those masses thats pay and fund this game, we need them.

Get gud scrub, where are your 20 addons??? Naa, you need 2500XP to join this group lol.

OHH you want to solo shuffle and play the game, ok, sit here for 30 min to 1 hour, just tab out and youtube or sit there bored.

Players trying to “get gud” as they are NOT playing the game having fun, they are studying videos learning how to play the game. Game has went off the deep end, its cray cray, looney toons, lost its marbles… All the way up to Blizz HQ, bunch of crazy wackadoos lol.

i don’t think you need anyone to tell you that the better you are at the game the more interested you are in depth and versatility

the idea that my class would lose unique highskill ceiling utility because some boomer is afraid of checking the show extra action bar button is insanely frustrating to me

You are probably a long time player. In your mind, complexity is being conflated with more buttons. When in reality, I’m sure you macro many things, you probably have many weakuras and addons tracking spells, procs, and cooldowns.

I mean we’re on the WoW forums, of course people like us are pretty hardcore about WoW. New players will just turn and walk away from the game. And they do trust me. Both of my brothers will not play the game because it’s too much these days. We’re in our 20s or early 30s, and they used to play WoW.

Evoker is the best example I have to explain to you that you don’t need 40 miscellaneous, disjointed, redundant spells on your class just to be able to feel like you can apply some form of skill expression. Every button on Evoker has super good and unique impact. Modern class design can work, Blizzard just has to do it right and not ruin specs like Shadow Priest was recently butchered.

I don’t even like the idea of hard-pruning spells out of the game to be honest. I just wish more active spells were choice nodes to cut down on bloat in our rotations.
