Kael’thas enabled Blizzard to skimp out on making 2 campaigns. Instead, they made 1 campaign, and had Venthyr and Necrolords share it, and with Kel’thuzzad being the common bad guy, the cinematic’s “We have our work horses” pans to Garrosh wouldn’t have worked, so the “Work horse” in game just happens to be Kael’thas instead.
He’s basically the generic no-name brand replacement of villain that we were promised in the “Commercial”.
If you have to explain the joke, it’s not as funny. You had to be there. I thought people who read GD would know enough about the cinematics leading up to Shadowlands and the story in game to understand it.

The only role Garrosh needed in Shadowlands is the player getting to spike his warmongering hide into the Maw like a lumpy football.
He should be there already. There’s no point to him being in Revendreth - if the unending tide of dismal, wretched failure that was his life didn’t break his pride, then no amount of fugly vampire elves ever will.

Kael’thas played a pivotal role in Warcraft 3 which is one of the games all of WOW is based off of. Garrosh is silly Saturday morning cartoon villain. I’ll take OG Kael’thas over Garrosh any day of the week.

Kael’thas : throwaway vilain for 1 WoW expansion.
Garrosh : a story that spans the generations from Warcraft : Orcs and Humans, and has been with us from TBC to WoD.
I’m sorry, if a cinematic promises me Garrosh, they better deliver an actual Garrosh, not a shoehorn way to re-use the Necrolord campaign villain in Revendreth’s campaign.
Imagine being disappointed with Kael’thas at home…
I’m sorry you didn’t seem to like one of the greatest RTS games ever made. Kael’thas’s announcement at Blizzcon 2019 virtually got a standing ovation from the crowd.
