I gathered some prerelease screenshots of places I could identify and went to grab images of them on live right now to compare before and after. There’s a handful of these I’m not completely certain are the same location but am reasonably sure. Others are more obvious.

Thanks for creating these side to side images of Quel’thelas! I’m hoping the zones are actually larger than what we have on the Live game because it would be quite small relatively. I am super excited for Windrunner Village!

God it’s just so beautiful.

From what they have said it is more or less the same size. That is why the Ghostlands and Eversong got compressed into a single zone named “Quel’thalas”; that makes it into a dragonriding scaled zone. What will be new is a whole zone tacked on the side for Zul’aman

Oh huh I think I got half of my prediction right if it’s as big as I think it will be. I figure Quel’danas will still look like it did in BC but Zul’Aman might be the whole peninsula they cut when they updated from vanilla to BC
True and I saw that, but it still disappoints me, because lore wise Quel’thelas is supposed to be a much larger kingdom. I was expecting at least the size of Kul’tiras or Zandalar. I guess we should expect a new zone beyond Zul’Aman and Voidstorm to compensate for not making the zones bigger. Though I suspect Voidstorm is where the endgame is so we shouldn’t expect too much from the old zones, but I was expecting at least some updates to Northeron/Lordaeron and Quel’thelas/Zul’Aman.

They will have to make some updates to the Eastern kingdoms where they are gluing these new zones to the old world map at the very least.
Like I do not know how they will keep Stratholm in the state it is in right now in a world where people can see the unfinished back side of it now and it is going to be an important place we go with Arator.

Maybe they’ll shove it in the test zone? If it’s seamless it can’t stay in the same spot, Thas’alah overlaps for a lot of it.
Thanks for this. I made an attempt but had a harder time matching areas than you did.
Neo Tranquillien is especially lovely. Timewalking not so long ago added a pretty tabard for that faction that had been languishing in the files since TBC; that’d be nice to see on its NPCs.

Its all beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but its missing a lot of emerald/fel green. While I understand the fel has not been in the best graces for a lot of people, Blood Elves among them, to revert all the green crystals to blue or gold is a visually upsetting choice and is pretty antithetical to a lot of the hooks that brought brought folks to blood elves (beyond pretty elves that is). Red would have been a perfectly acceptable color too.
In addition to the Murder Row dungeon where we seem to be hunting down fel users, this all seems like a poor reversion closer to their High Elven state than forward as Blood Elves and while I’m trying to refrain from speculating a lot of the story just based on the color of some crystals in a pre-alpha screenshot, doesn’t mean Im not concerned for the direction.

There are NPCs on Thunder Isle who actually talk about this. Those arcane crystals are blue in their natural state but it’s the blood elves’ habit to paint them red. These crystals, or at least most of them, should probably be red too.

Which I get and see, but the line seems far more humorous than serious so red they should go.
Even if so, gotta get painting! The implications remain the same

I generally would not pay too much heed to random click lines
It is interesting that buildings of Windrunner Village have their former blue High Elf paint, unlike the red paint they have in the current Ghostlands.
And that the Quel’danas crest uses blue instead of the usual red as well.
The original blood elf crest is actually red, gold and blue
Also there’s a fair bit of blue all over the place especially with the rangers even in BC.
Blue feathers for the Icon of Blood any way.
I feel like they are very overly setting up a Legion prominent twist. Which gives me the impression that Sargeras is not coming back for a redemption arc.
No one in their right mind should have expected a Sargeras redemption. If anything him being the final boss is the only other choice then Amanthul being the final boss.
