First off, I already unlocked allied races on my account - this is about new players.
I’m just bummed that people still want allied races locked behind a quest line. I finally got my irl friend hyped about the game and he is dead-set on maining a Zandalari troll.
I’m just sad to see his first time through the game will be spending several days trying to get the race he wants to play as opposed to enjoying his first wow character.
Edit: I’m super happy rep is gone if anything so at least there is that!
Yeah, with Shadowlands coming out & the new starting zone, it kinda makes sense to make the races more obtainable for a lower level character to achieve. I dont know about completely opening it up, but just reducing the level requirement of the recruitment quest, along with abolition of the rep requirement.
Currently, before they remove the rep requirements, you loose all that rep progress if you reroll to get the heritage armor. That doesn’t happen with a dk either.
i dont think the OP is talking about the short quests when you get them unlocked, i think he means stuff like Insurrection or You Are Prepared or the war campaigns
I’m inclined to think things are a little different when playing a video game. If you aren’t at least having tangential fun when working for a goal in a game, then what’s the point? Your brother probably found some kind of enjoyment out of leveling as a Paladin, or perhaps leveling in general (some of the storylines are enjoyable). If not, he most likely would have played something else. As far as I know, people generally don’t force themselves to play a game unless it’s their job.
He can play a normal, classic Troll, which is a lovely race, and the first one I ever played in the game. Later on, once he has experience S’lands, he can always go back and work on the allied races.
No it’s not a generation thing. Theres a lot to do in wow. Spending an hour or two doing all the WQs everyday is aweful game design. People just dont want a repeated experience that’s all.
I unlocked them all through grinding, and I think its important that the wow player base increases. A player coming back is going to be discouraged from doing so, and to me that’s not right.
Theres already so much to do aside from rep grinding at max level now with copious amounts of RNG. Players want to have fun when they come home from work/school l. Not grind until bedtime.
