I feel like people are sleeping on this item. Does it share a CD with trinkets or something? Back in the day everyone went for Stormherald or the Lionheart Executioner but this thing looks good:
It’s higher ilvl too, 146 while the weapons are 136. The ilvl is the same as T6 chest pieces.
I would argue that this item will be better once you have a weapon comparable to or better than Stormherald or the Lionheart Champion or w/e it is called. But by then you are in Tier 6.

Lionheart is 100 STR proc for 10 sec.
Not sure its worth the complete rejuggle of BS at that point at all.
While that chest is good I think warriors just benefit more from a very good weapon than an armor piece.
You’ve also kind of overstepped the level. Ancient Kings requires Nether Vortex to craft, which drop in Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep so you’d only be using this one after t5 is released.

I had a harder time getting a weapon back then. I had Gorehowl for way too long. I think I replaced it with the badge axe, then the sword from ZA. The Torch of the Damned didn’t drop until the WotLK pre-patch.
With all that in mind and me knowing I won’t be able to raid a lot… I’m keeping hammersmithing.
It is a good chest.
It isn’t a guranteed weapon or pair of weapons though and weapons are a bigger dps upgrade overall than flat AP.
Asto the on use, I can only remember one person I ever raided with had it and they stopped raiding at the end of tier 4 so I have no data or memory to draw upon.
