Built in "addons"

After the disgrace that is the CD manager, and your plans to bring more to the baseline UI while disabling the addon counterpart entirely, PLEASE consult or hire the addon devs that have been doing it for over a decade.

You can’t disable these amazing addons if you’re going to release slop on the same level as the CD manager, get the professionals who have been making these as a hobby/passion project to give advice or make it for you.

Unlikely that will happen.

What’s likely to happen is they will go full steam ahead, employed their own plan but screw up massively on the balancing part. Ion said encounters and instance will be to toned down.

What i hear is ''We will just put 15 spell casters instead of 17 and each of them will cast every 8 secs rather then the 6 sec today. Oh and make sure the must kicks are still present in all of them. Otherwise everyone else can ‘‘do it’’.

While you are at that, remember to add 2 super elite that tankbuster every 15 sec. Line up the tankbusters so 2 week after patch deployment, we can unsync them and they will kneel to us once more for ‘‘listening’’.

Remember not to put in too much tracking info in our built in UI, it’s a hell of a thing to keep maint, this is just a job for me, not passion.

No. We’re interested in your ability to play the game, not install mods.

And where am I suppose to get the money to hire all of these people?

Please… for the love of arthas… stop this.

The only ones saying this are people with their fingers in their ears or articles with clickbait titles for ads.

Blizzard really needs to add a report function for misinformation.

We have addons at home

I’m sure there’s enough in the budget after cutting out the QA team.

They’re massively restricting combat addons and removing the ability to track party member CDS. No more combat Weakauras and Omnicd. Pretty huge change on how the game has been played for years.

What about this is clickbait?

Show me.

Where did they say this was happening?
Ion said what they COULD look like and people start losing their minds.

This.
They have never said they are disabling ANYTHING.

What’s fun is I can provide receipts because I actually read the article lol.

The writer of the article made an assumption of what he said. Ion himself never said they are disabling or removing anything.
Please read before fearmongering.

The replacement that shows up after breaking the addon its based on has always been worse since like, AVR.

Tracking of group abilities will no longer function in add-ons after the changes, so things like other players’ cooldowns won’t be visible, he said. That might, in turn, lead to dungeons with fewer interrupts in a pack of mobs, which might in turn lead to less reliance on classes with abilities that stop a whole pack of enemies from casting.
so

here helped you out he said that they are going to stop addons from tracking your groups abilities which is massive in raid and m+ and all the while specically used the word might result in less casts instead of it will result lol.

I have yet to see this being said.

The article states this. But ion himself never said anything like this.

And even this wasn’t even a quote.

Imgur

He didn’t say this.
THEY said this.

Like here is the article all these topics are stemming from.
PC gamer did a fantastic job at creating misinformation with how they quote him then say some random nonsense they assumed.

i literally quoted you the line from the article hear liet me help you out again lmao

“Tracking of group abilities will no longer function in add-ons after the changes, so things like other players’ cooldowns won’t be visible, he said.”

so mr receipts maybe read the whole thing before accusing people of being wrong lol but really people miss read stuff all the time so i get it

I’m posting screenshots from the article.
I am not finding what you are saying it says lol.

Like this. Notice how the quotes conveniently stop right before they say the thing? Claiming he said it?

Imgur

Did he say that though?
Why is everything else in quotes and not the claims?

Oh I did.

He never said it. THEY said he said it or they said nonsense after he said something.
There is a reason you use quotes and there is a reason you don’t use quotes.

ity literally says “he said” so either he said it or they are lying and at that point you cant trust the article at all.

It’s a gaming article. They are at the bottom of the barrel for being trustworthy these days.

This is why I watch the interviews. Tbh they couldn’t even be bothered to link the video either.

I also find it funny that pcgamer is the ONLY one to report this today. They must be desperate for ad revenue :joy:

Blizzard’s a multi-billion dollar subsidiary of a multi-billion dollar company that is itself the subsidiary of a company worth nearly 3.4 trillion dollars. They have the money.

I don’t have a QA team. I do have a riding lawn mower, will that help?

It’s this.

and this.
PCGamer is lying for clicks.

Interestingly, the article Quivermethis linked is actually a fair recap of the interview. Pointless compared to simply reading the interview transcript, but ok. The same author wrote a different piece of crap on 4/30 that said combat addons will be eliminated and that article is a mountain of BS.

Hopefully they got roasted and the newer article is their version of a retraction, but PCGamer is so irrelevant these days who even cares to keep reading their output. It’s been a useless publication since about 2002.
