Building a new budget friendly pc for WoW

You just described my experience with Intel LGA 1200. I’ve had far far more problems on LGA 1200 across the board than any platform to date. Thankfully Intel and AMD have fixed their problems over time. Research needs to be done before pairing hardware.
I never had your problems on AM4. LGA 1200 was bleeding edge at the time so I didn’t have the luxury of research.

I had the same problem with my i7-10700 until I change the subtimings on stock settings. Most people would say Intel LGA 1200 is problematic if they experienced the problem. I figured out what was wrong, fixed it and moved on.

Good to hear you’re in good shape. There’s tons of people who never had problems on their AMD chips are doing fine too. Both good platforms.

I might be that guy you are thinking of, tho the jury is still out on what exactly killed it. Momentary power drops and cuts are the bane of my gaming existence here in rural Thailand.

UPS really helps with the unstable power.

I noticed that Costco sells some prebuild gaming PCs at a cheap price. They should be able to perform very closely to the high-end rigs if you play WoW at 1080p and limit the FPS at 60. Plus you get the OEM reliability.

The OEM gaming PCs are not like home-built ones where you might run into compatibility issues, or have melting cables or motherboard components.

If you add a liquid cooling system for the CPU, cheap gaming PCs like these might fool the average joe into believing that they are in the same league as those $3,000+ high-end rigs:
