I am locked out of this character (Ghuruh) …that I’ve been playing since at least 2018, because “the game” suddenly decided it was a class trial character. When I logged in to this character (and after running him around Orgrimmar a bit) I noticed that, unlike all my other characters, he wasn’t wearing all his new class and level specific gear. Two of his Trailseeker pieces came in the mail with his pre-TWW gear. I went to change out his Mail of the Champion chest piece and the second I clicked on it I got booted off the server. Thought I would log right back in, but he was locked out. After several frustrating back-and-forths with Game Masters, that went nowhere, I was finally told to come here and report it as a bug.
Will I get any resolution here, or should I give up now and save myself hours and hours of frustration?
In all honesty, that character looks like a trial character created during BFA.
Thanks for looking.
Until a GM mentioned “class trial” in a response to my ticket I had never heard the term. To my knowledge, I have never created a class trial character (and don’t really understand the point of them). When a GM said “class trial character” I looked it up to see what he was talking about. They seem to have limitations that my character does not have. They are not supposed to be able to loot a rare. They are not supposed to be able to join a guild. If you follow the character link, you will see he is wearing a rare and he is in a guild.
You said it “looks like a trial character created during BFA.” Can you tell me more about that? What makes him look like a trial character from BFA? Because, frankly, at this point, I would be every bit as happy to be proven WRONG as proven right. It’s been at least six years since i played WoW at all…maybe I did something that I have completely forgotten about. I have a LOT of toons and I have a bad habit of giving the same class the same name but on different servers. If I knew he was “class trial” character, i could happily delete him and move on. Perhaps I’m being nostalgic about the wrong Ghuruh.
- So trial characters in BFA were created at level 110. When Shadowlands launched, level 110 was squished down to level 45.
- They’re in all green trailseeker gear, which can only be acquired via a level boost, class trial, or gear update. The other 2 items are both given as quest rewards during the heart of azeroth questline.
- They only has 1 pet in the stable and its the default boost pet. Now its possible that you tamed one from the echo isles at level 5 and never once tamed anything else, but unlikely.
- Wowhead Quest completion tracker shows they’ve completed no quests from Legion and only a handful of introductory quests from BFA
- No raid clears of any raid
The only thing that doesn’t track is that they’re in a guild, but it doesn’t look like would be anything of sentimental value on that character. Would just lose a bit of time releveling through 45.
Battlecruisr - THANK YOU!! You have been a thousand times more helpful than everyone at Blizzard combined!
When I came back after a long absence and upgraded to TWW every character at level 10 or higher got a whole new set of gear (and some bags), hence the Trailseeker set.
It would be very unlike me to tame just one pet, so this starts me leaning towards having done something i completely forgot.
Can you tell me more about this?
Can you REALLY find which quests each character has completed at Wowhead??
I didn’t understand that a class trial character started out at level 110 (in BFA). If he hasn’t done any Classic, BC, WotLK, etc., quests then that would cinch it for me…i’d just happily delete him and go on my way.
Thank you for all your help!
– UPDATE: I went to Wowhead (thank you!) and found that he did NO quests in the Troll starting zone and just a few in Zandalar. Now that i understand what a class trial character IS…this makes more sense. I’m going to go ahead and just delete him.
Thanks, again, for all your help…if i had to keep going back and forth with GMs i would have lost my mind.
