I copied my chain of tickets about this to a document and then trimmed to clean it up, and edited “links” out, but here is what was discussed so far about the quest, so the bug can be worked out.

Missing Diplomat quest bugged out after I subdued Private Hendel, so I abandoned the quest hoping to pick it up again. It has been multiple days, and I am still unable to pick up the quest again in order to finish the quest line.

I have tried the suggested “fixes” and believe that an error was caused by a disconnect in ISP between when I abandoned the quest and when the information was received by your servers, but have no way on my end to update the information with the server in order to re-acquire the quest after having abandoned it.

In the words of my people, Bal’a dash, malanore. I absolutely understand how frustrating this can be, and I made sure to review your case in full to get all the details. So I took out my favorite shovel with the special handle, so I could really dig into things and it seems while the ticket was awaiting a response, you got the issue fixed up on your own and complete the missing diplomat! In addition, I recommend checking your quest progress on Wowhead. By plugging in your character’s info and going to the Quests tab, you can filter out which quests you’ve completed and which ones you haven’t, even sort it by area. The matter has not been resolved, because the game did not allow me to proceed after subduing Private Hendel for the quest. As a result, there was no turn-in done and no quest rewards of any sort (including the appropriate XP for the level at time of doing the quest). Additionally the wowhead resource provided in the last response does not allow me to see anything for the character (Methu), only that he is one of my characters played in WotLK Classic.

How can the rewards have been given for that stage in the quest chain, when I was never allowed to interact with Jaina or any other NPC to complete the quests or to pick up the followup quests?

The followup quest that required subduing Hendel is the one that bugged out and did not allow completion.

Some how the system lost the data related to being able to turn in the quest, as well as my abandoning the one where I subdued Hendel because of the turn-in not triggering. I had gone to the tower after about 2 days passed and the final quest was not available. The only way I can see being able to fix the issue is to force a full reset of the quest to subdue Hendel, and I end up with the XP award based on the new level of my character instead of what it had been at the original time of completion. I will however return to the tower one last time on that character while I await an update from your team, and will add another reply if I find anything different than the last time that I was there.

That step has already been checked multiple time. Finding Jaina IS NOT THE PROBLEM. The problem is that the data was corrupted somewhere between the quest bugging and denying my the chance to complete it and subsequently claim the final quest from Jaina, and when I abandoned the quest that had bugged out in an effort to force a redo that would let me turn in that quest so that I could then pick up the final quest.

Regarding this inquiry, abandoning a quest shouldn’t prevent you from picking it back up - whichever quest you abandoned, you’ll want to return to the quest start point for it and re-pick it back up and proceed from there. I’d recommend checking out the wowhead comments as well, as they provide some insightful discussion covering some issues/roadblocks that you can encounter. With these tools, you’ll be able to find out which quests are necessary, and (through the profiler), which quests you have and haven’t completed. From taking a glance over things it looks like you may have completed the quest in question. I have gone back to all possible locations to meet the quest giver for the quest which I had abandoned, and have not been able to get access to the quest again. I even went to the quest giver for the quest before that, just in case I was mistaken in who I had to go to for the quest. As for the wowhead resource, it too is showing the abandoned quest as completed. Yet does not account for why I am unable to get the final quest, which at this point is the only thing worth pursuing on my end of this effort for the sake of completion. As for Blizzard’s side of things, it seems to me as there would be interest in figuring out what caused this anomaly & how to be able to fix it in the future.

Vinciente, I took a look into your case and I can tell you that this is a really complex situation, let me explain. So, the last quest for the Missing Diplomat quest in Wrath of the Lich King Classic is actually this one:

It seems like you already completed this quest so this might be why you are not being offered anymore quests in this questline. So, don’t worry, everything is working as intended here!

I don’t know why everyone keeps saying that the quest in wetlands is the end of the chain when there are more in Dustwallow Marsh. The one that bugged out after completing was… wowhead(dot)com/wotlk/quest=1324/the-missing-diplomat
If you look at the quest number, it is like 76 higher than the one which I keep getting told is the last in the chain. Therefore the one that bugged, logically comes after the one which I am repeatedly told is the last in the chain. That being said, I am still incorrectly having the system say that I actually turned that quest in rather than having abandoned it because it would not allow me to have the option to turn it in. As such I could not grab the final quest and subsequent turn-in wowhead(dot)com/wotlk/quest=1267/the-missing-diplomat

I can see how weird this can be, since when completing The Missing Diplomat (1324), it bugged out, and the system recognized it as completed instead of abandoned. (ง •̀_•́)ง While looking through the odyssey you’ve been leading with your priest Methu, I had the opportunity to see how amazingly well you’ve been doing so far. However, I’ve noticed both quests of The Missing Diplomat (1324 and 1267) are marked as completed. Due to the limited period of time which the logs are saved, I’m afraid we are unable to verify if indeed the rewards from the completion of the quest The Missing Diplomat (1324) were granted and what happened after you firstly abandoned, before the quest got marked as completed.
