[Bug] Missing: /GRoster command

The original Groster command was able to sort by date the characters in guild when they last logged on or used their account.

It allowed guild managers to see usage and remove characters which were not being used in a long while.
It allowed a guild manager to actually perform the function of managing their guild.

Currently in the new guild and communities page there is no way to sort by date, date and zone share the same area and even when you select offline and are able to see more dates, they are never in any order. Any additions to roster or log outs or changes of zone actually remixes the list.

As you can see above I have instituted a ranking system that is set by dates, anyone that is more than 25 days offline I normally drop in graveyard rank - if they are over a year offline I remove them completely from the roster.

Anyone that is less than a 25 days are set to nomad or a greater rank.

With the /groster this was hard to do but not impossible and it allowed my guildies to see that activity was appreciated in the guild.

Previously even though the /groster command was no longer used for the current system you could still access the command and were able to sort by date. Meaning that you could at least manage your guild.

The current system does not allow you to do that - there are no addons so far that can replicate the /groster from what I can see so by removing it you again have disabled a function of guild management that was working properly.
(As you did previously with the removal of certain permission restrictions on officers.)

I understand the need to improve a system however a piecemeal improvement is not a fix its a break in functionality. The fact that devs have not address the changes made previously that crippled the permissions in guilds leads me to believe that the /groster command or a substitute functionality in the guild and communities panel will not be added.

Please fix this bring back /groster or add a substitute.
Please fix the raid window bug not allowing odds over evens.
Please fix the permissions issues with guild officer ranks.

Yeah that’s ridiculous. I’ve been intentionally using the /groster command so that I can correctly sort the offline times of players. The guild roster in the normal guild window does NOT sort them correctly. If they took away /groster then they need to fix the sorting issue.

/groster was necessary because the current guild roster never showed the information that was most needed to keep up with who was actually playing anymore. either restore /groster command or fix the current guild roster to sort by last time played as a criteria please. in an old guild with old members that pop in and start playing once in a while or leave at random its needed to keep ranks sorted to reflect activity and protect access to guild bank from inactives that could be hacked later.

Logged in on my classic toon and didnt realize when i posted about groster for classic btw. this would be my retail toon that’s missing the /groster date last online sorting.

Unfortunately not a bug; both commands were intentionally removed.  There is some good news at least – the old UI still exists in the code, so you need only to find an addon to access it.

Why remove functionality that is not just useful but needed In order to manage a guild?

Devs are trying to improve things however they are diminishing the value of guild masters and how they do the jobs, I think they wanted to move away from guilds and just completely use the new thing “community groups” at some point they realized they can’t do that.

This started when they completely redid the officer permissions in the guild before it was very strict and you could give officers different permissions depending on their rank so you could technically give one officer a higher set of permissions than another. However now its impossible to do so.

The removal of the Groster command basically was a part of the continued strategy to push everyone into the new communities panel, however that panel does not give all the functions of the previous version of the gm tools. So while using the groster command you could sort by last time player logged in, you can not do that in the community panel, point in fact the community panel is so screwy that every time someone logs in or logs out the whole list gets reloaded and randomized.

Its a huge oversight on the part of the devs, it happens all the time with front end changes/ui changes. I can understand having lots of work to do however not having a concept of how people use the old settings/setup and coming up with something new is just making a mistake and saying its the users fault since they can’t get used to the new interface.

I do applaud the devs for trying out new things however I am skeptical that they will ever understand what we did originally.

Things to fix:
Groster command bring it back.
Permissions being more under the control of the GM in guilds.
Raid Frames - bring back the odds over evens look

(Edit: not sure why but my classic character was chosen for me to post rather than my main greenstone.)

This is absurd. If the “new Guild UI and Permissions” thread is any indication, this will never come back either and sorting in the existing interface will never be fixed
